Looking for a new XC ish type hardtail

Showed the missus this for £1000

http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/27986/Felt_Six_Elite_Bike_2010

She didnt look v happy when she saw the price,

So then I showed her this

http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b4s2p2290

and she looked slightly happier,

Which of the two would you go for, bearing in mind Giant is £150 less.

Open to any more suggestions.

Ta

Theres not much in them to be honest but I guess my cash would go on the giant. What attracted you to the Felt?

the choices are*:

a) The bike you want and no missus

b) The missus you want and no bike

c) The bike you want and the missus nagging you about it so you never get true pleasure from it

d) The bike you don't want but at least you still get pleasured by the missus

*this isn't necessarily true but I am just opening the second bottle of wine so it is the best I can advise

Can't really help you decide, but if you want another suggestion, the Orange Diva (£850ish) is worth a look.

Edit: Probably not quite XC enough though!

I think the Diva was to attract other women when your missus leaves 😉

More costly to get rid of the missus, than get a new bike! Thats the trouble with divorce nowadays 🙂

Forks are better on the Felt and Giant, depends why you're attracted to the carbon frame,as otherwise similar spec.Worth trying to get a test ride if poss,as one set of geometry may suit better than another, and that maybe more important than frame material in the long run.

Are those On-One carbon whippets still available for £1k? That would be my choice for an xc bike.

Edit: looks like they're £1200 now. Maybe worth keeping an eye out if the OP is interested as On-One seem to have some cracking deals from time to time
