First off can the bearings in the X-type BB's be replaced.?

i have this on my orange five bike
you can use a Shimano bottom bracket, which in my experience are more reliable. For some reason the race face bearings are bollox
well ive had my RaceFace bottom bracket for 2 years now 'so there ya have it''... and still going strong...but then agin im not a heavy sod
Just replaced my RF on today with a Hope stainless I had sitting around from my old DH bike. Agree RF bearings are made out of cheese.
Tried shimano, RF and changed the bearings for better ones with varying degrees of success. In the end ditched them all for a Hope SS and never looked back over three years, two bikes and sweet as a nut and I am a heavy sod.
well i must be the only person in the uk with a decent Raceface bottom bracket then (touch wood)....must be abit lucky then me 😉
Later ones were beefed up like enduros mod etc..

Mine developed movement after 4 months so went shimano
I've replaced bearings but depending on the cups, it can be tricky. You need to carefully take out the top hat spacers and if you can't get a tool to the back of the race, may have to modify the shell to drive the bearing out.
To save messing, check out Rose. £5.95 postage - maybe club together for a few?!
Bought my last one from there - great price!

My RF lasted a fair bit, far longer than the usual 2 months people quote on here.
I made a pigs ear of trying to change the bearings when it finally died, went out and bought a Hope stainless in the end, far less hassle.
