Looking around I can’t find much info on servicing or bleeding this damper!!
Has anyone given it a go and been successful?
Can’t even find the syringe adapter to bleed, never mind a guide.
Charger bleed adapter looks similar, but unsure if it would actually work.
Any pointers or advice would be much appreciated!!
Cheers
I think that the rough cut damper is a sealed cartridge and isn't serviceable at home. I am not certain though, check the x fusion web site, they have lots of service videos.
Cheers for reply. Nothing on x fusion about servicing the roughcut damper unfortunately.
Did just find a guide on an old forum thread.
It’s a cartridge with bladder system much like the charger damper so should be a similar process in theory. Lots of DIY guides out there for that.
Can’t for the life of me source a bleed adapter though.
Still keen to hear of any real life experiences?
Cheers
I found a thread on MTBR about xfusion that might help...
MAD suspension sell some tools that will help, but I didn't read the details.
Herein lies the problem with xfusion I’m afraid. Best of luck OP
Watches with interest, sweep owner that could probably do with a service after 1500 miles - still seems to be fine though
Wasn't expecting to become a fan of X Fusion forks (Sweep HLR) but I am pleasantly surprised for the money I paid! I've seen amongst other owners (albeit a few compared to SRAM/RS), is they seem to be pretty robust and reliable with minimal servicing.
Good compromise of small bump compliance without diving and big hit handling without losing the small bump compliance. On the downside they are without doubt the noisiest forks on the rebound stroke I've ever had, adjusting air volume is old-school and some of the graphics are a bit austere!
I'm a long way off needing a service but will take notes from this thread.
I brought some McQeen HLR from a chap off here, and agree they are a great fork for the money!
Noisy though in some settings as stated above, sound like some Recon’s I had years ago!!
I have sent enquires here there and everywhere regarding DIY service of roughcut damper. Will share any info if I hear back!?
The guys at epic bleed solutions are kindly sending me out a charger adapter free of charge to see if that fits. Looks similar so maybe able to bodge?
@tomoza Did you see this?

And these guys sell the damper bleed syringe...in Oz at least

Cheers for looking into it, much appreciated.
I have emailed ozzy site, although it looks as if they are not a selling site but a part finder/catalog.
Found the forum thread and there’s some useful info on there.
It's no bother, i've been on their site a lot recently. I suspect they prefer to wholesale, but I ordered X-fusion parts (Racing Bros seals) from them for the first time yesterday, no questions asked, they just sent me an invoice and a secure payment link.
My Trace 36 are a really nice fork, but very noisy too. Set them up with a shockwiz a few weeks ago. Still noisy.
Bit of an update. Ordered bleed adapter, seals, upgraded air piston seal, foot nut tool, damper tool and a spare bladder kit. ( not needed this time )
All bits came from diymtb which is an ozzy company.
I changed the seals, serviced the air spring and replaced the oil in damper. All relatively easy and pleased to report a success.
If anyone has any questions regarding procedures or what’s needed etc give me a shout.
Cheers
Also brought the official x fusion bleed adapter. I tried the reverb bleed adapter which was kindly donated by epic bleed solutions. It fitted the bleed port but didn’t seal as good. At a push you might get away with it.
That's great to hear. All I've done on mine so far is a lowers service which was simple enough but will doubtless need to deal with the damper at some point. What's the recommended interval?
Reply from chap at diymtb
Hi Tom,
Sorry, been swamped with stuff here but haven't forgotten you.
You probably don't need to do anything other than change the oil in the damper, but worth having the kit for down the track. I have a few roughcut dampers with at least 3 years use and just changing the oil keeps them fresh.
The last item is a replacement for the air spring seal. Regardless what air seal yours has this will replace it and make it smoother. Just use Slick Honey (or Slickoleum both the same thing) when you assemble and you'll have a smoother fork.
Thanks for the update Tom,
I've a McQueen that could do with a service.
Could you order online or did you have to call / email, and what did that little lot come to if you don't mind me asking?
Cheers
I just emailed and told them what I wanted to do and they got back and suggested all the parts and tools needed to do the job. They were extremely helpful and answered all my questions and gave advice on how to service.
All in for parts and tools posted I paid 157 ozzy $, but you could save 46 $ by not getting the footnut tool and the bladder kit.
Paid another £20 for the oil Torco RFF 10wt. So probably paid what it would cost for a service. But I like like being down the shed with a couple of beers working on my bikes!! Also plan on keeping the forks for a while so can now just buy new seals and strip and service myself.
👍
@tomoza I have my fork apart to service. How do you replace the damper oil? I removed the compression dials and am not sure what next to access the bladder.
Hi Reeksy
You need to use syringe with x fusion damper bleed adapter.
I ended up buying one from an Ozzy site. You may be able to get one from Upgrade bikes ?
Where about you based as you are welcome to borrow mine if you have no luck?
Thanks mate, I'm actually in Oz!
I had a chat with the vendor for Xfusion here that sold your tools to you. He didn't seem to think I needed to bleed it yet still sold me the hollow allen key tool.
Serviced the air spring and somehow the bloody foam ring swelled up!
Oh well, I'll put it all back together again.
