You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Just changed the travel on my McQueen (same as the Sweep i believe) forks and the damper footnut has taken 3-4 thread and then is spinning the damper itself so the footnut isn't tightening.
Is this a common issue and is there a fix? Has something come unattached in the damper?
Cheers
Chris
I had this on a set of fox.
Put them on the bike, lock them out and push down hard. It will seat the damper rod in the lower and you will then be able to get the correct torque on the nut.
Thanks @BillOddie….that sorted them! Magic
I had this with some X fusion Trace. I managed to chovel up the first couple of threads in the nut so couldn't do it at all.Solution was to turn the nut upside down which left the built in washer/flat at the bottom. Looked weird but worked. I couldn't find an original replacement and you can't get them from fastener suppliers because the thread doesn't match the spanner size.
Diymtb in Australia May supply replacement foot nut if you really want one. You can email them.
Thanks reeksy, I have emailed them. I have also discovered that some Japanese cars use similar strange sized nuts so investigating that too
I thought I might as well try Upgrade before ordering from Australia and they actually had one. They seem to have a lot more spares than listed on the website. They were very helpful and the nut arrived in a couple of days.
Yeah the fellas are wicked good at upgrade disty. 🤘
