I'll be there, I'm looking forward to it. I'm hoping the riding will be nice and tech, not too much like a xc course. What is it like in general in those woods?

The triscombe dh trks are brilliant but i don't know how many of them, if any, will be used. That series does tend to be a bit more xc tbh. They also have rubbish trialsy stages. It has potential to be great but i won't be suprised if the chosen trails let it down

Yeah, I entered, but I'm now a touch unsure. They have a round at brackell, which has no challenging riding I know of... Are the triscombe tracks worth riding for the day on Saturday?

We will drive down on the day, as we're only a couple of hours away.

There is plenty of riding at Triscombe, from easy to pretty tough DH tracks, all fairly short, it it will be interesting to see what sort of loop they put together, as i'm doing the Gravity Enduro there later in the year.

A mate is behind the route for the ukge later in the year. He is hoping they won't be using much if any of the same route.
No need to fret too much about getting practise in on the saturday. The tracks are pretty tech in places but thats due to its very natural make up and not because there are huge gaps/ drops etc. The riding is so good in the area that it would be quite an acheivement to make choose crap stuff

Plenty of great runs without using the Triscombe DH runs. Not that technical but can be very fast and the trails are drying out nicely.

I am going

Used to be at the Quantocks regularly but not much recently. Should be a great fun event. So many good varied trails there

This series is aimed at people that want to try this race format rather than top end hard core gnar riders... it will suit 70% of the bikers I know.

It is a southern based series too which is great.

Things you will get if you enter...

Friendly atmoshere.

Some great riding, some not so great.

Timing system that works.

A there and back in a day race (for us soft southerners)

Try it and enjoy....

I'll be there marshaling.

I've put a post here requesting for marshals as they're so far, thin on the ground.

Drop off, once the route has been finalised, and if Carlos lets me know, I'll drop you a line to key spots.

I'll try and bag a few pics whilst there too.

In the mean time, if anyone an help marshalling, get in touch with the race organiser. Free race entry for a friend or yourself if you can supply a marshal.

Cheers.

Cheers Sharki, as you are aware we know the area well, but the logistics of getting camera gear between the stages can take a bit of organizing. 🙂

Dropoff.

No luck in getting a route, here's why.

Really sorry but the map does not go out to anyone. Also I have restrictions on my license imposed by the forestry commission regarding spectators which I have to discourage attending the race or entering the woods due to the amount of dangerous tree fall so I can't condone photographers on the course. I can't stop them obviously but I can't help either and you will not believe what I have had to do to get this race off the ground..

Hi Sharki, no worries, I've had the same reply from Carlos and understand the situation. I do believe its a bit daft though as we all know that if there is a hazard present it should be managed and not brushed under the carpet. But hey we'll be there and we'll get the shots 🙂

Also as an aside, a race series with no media is dead in the water.
