You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I know a few threads have been written on here, about the damper tool required to get the damper rod back into the lowers, as the nuts is a very soft aluminium.
I'm wondering if any one has one kicking around so that I can get these forks back together. I can't imagine the lower nuts will be easy to purchase any more, so don't want to risk not trying it without the tool.
Thanks in advance.
I sold my Sweeps years ago, but did several lowers services without the tool.
I can't remember if I used a socket or not but I remember fully extending the forks before starting and the setting the rebound to the slowest setting.
Putting a few PSI in the airside will help get them within reach. I found the damper tool invaluable for getting the lowers off without damaging the cheese bolts, so it sounds like you've done the risky bit already.
If you can't get hold of one, or are too tight to fork out for it, measure the bolt diameter and thread pitch and order a short length of threaded tube to match. That's all it is.
Thanks both.
I can't find the tool online anywhere hence why I asked here. I have been told an old SRAM chainring bolt could work but trying to find one of those is also difficult.
Is it not this one these days?
Hmm not sure, it looks different to the tool used in this vid

I did see the one in the link you included but assumed it was something else within the damper.
I've done my Trace 36 several times without a special tool. Can't remember anything special other than following the videos.
I think I might have one for pulling the shaft through for X fusion forks.
If this is what you need message me. £5 I think would be a fair price.
Thought they would fit some metrics (36mm) stantions but didn't. So is unused.
