Anyone here installed or swapped out their x-fusion fork to use the roughcut damper?

I've got one fork with the roughcut damper that doesn't get used now and another fork with the RL2 damper and I fancy switching that around.

Any howto's out there to follow. Is it just a case of removing lowers off fork then switching out the dampers?

Cheers

I found upgrade super helpful with queries regarding X Fusion.

They were most helpful with my Slide running an RL2 that was subsequently upgraded.

Pretty much. Be very careful with the top cap seals when swapping over (as an Xfusion owner you probably know which other bits of the damper assembly are made of cheese). I've managed to mangle two of them without any idea how.

Cheers both, i'll contact Upgrade just to see what they say. I'm happy enough removing lowers but wasn't sure on removing damper and if it needed any fancy tools or removal methods.

Flat socket, 28mm I think, don't take my word for it though.

Ironically with mine the hardest part is refitting the lowers!

Internally I think they are of a higher quality than a comparable RS fork. No obvious use plastic for example.

Are both forks similar travel length?

Ive got a Slant that was originally 120mm, which I changed to 130 and then 150. When I went to 150 I had to buy a new RL2 damper because mine would only go to 140 max. It was too short to go longer and was botoming out with a small clunk at 150 (on a quick ride in the backyard). X fusion said it would have failed “catastrophically” if I rode it on a proper trail.

All good since I installed the longer damper. The longer damper is fine to use at any length travel.

Roughcut damper is in a 160mm 650b fork.

RL2 damper is in a 140mm 29 fork.

Hi everyone!
I have a Sweep RL2 with a blown damper.
Does anyone by any chance have a spare unit I could use to fix mine (perhaps from a Rough Cut upgrade)?
Cheers!

I have just ordered a new Roughcut damper from the States. Not sure when it will arrive in the UK but the RL2 damper should be going spare in the next few weeks. It will be brand new as the forks have not yet been used.

I have an RL2 damper in my shed. Sent forks to Upgrade to have the roughcut fitted they sent the RL2 back in plastic sleeve along with the upgraded fork. Fork was ridden once before upgrade.

I've also got a spare RL2 damper if it's still needed.
