My Giant TCX frame cracked again having already been replaced once before. This time Giant didn't have any TCX frames to send me and I was given a Revolt frame instead.

Not many components leftover from the TCX will fit due to standards changing which has left me wondering what to do for the best. I could sell frame and buy something like a Vitus Energie https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/vitus-energie-vr-cyclocross-bike-advent?color=silver&sizeStandard=L

Or I could build up the Revolt. Probably not a lot of difference cash wise in it for either option. The TCX was used for some CX races but not for a while and really only gets used as my daily commuter. I do like the option of having a CX bike and that it would be rideable straight away. but the Revolt might be better off for commuting duties but will take time to build up.

Its only fair to ask WWSTWD?

I know this is of no help but I ride a TCX which is now a few years old - where has your frame cracked so I can keep an eye on mine. I think the Revolt frame is a little heavier but it does have eyelets for mudguards which the TCX doesn't which would be an advantage commuting

Mine was a 2016 model. The crack appeared both times along the top tube a couple of inches short of where it meets the seat tube.

Valid point on the mudguards on the Revolt

Alloy. Seems to be a few cases out there of the same thing. Hopefully yours is carbon and unaffected.

I'd be pushing back on Giant to see what they can do about the incompatibility. Not up to you to fix their issue

Wheels as they're 135 although can get adaptors for 142 fitment

Bottom bracket, Revolt frame is threaded. Might need new crankset

Brake calipers, Revolt frame is flat mount. Think there are adaptors for post mount

Would like to go 1x too

I picked up a Vitus Energie VRS on Wiggles ebay shop for just over £700 before Christmas to use as a commuter. I've put some guards on it and swapped the tyres for some larger slicks and it does the job very well.

I your circumstances I'd certainly be asking Giant to help with making the new frame usable, especially if you originally bought a complete bike.
