Oh my days!
New bike niche alert:

that's right, it's a 200mm freeride bike, with a motor
so a trial motorbike then
...with pedals
29er?
dunno, but I'd run it fixed
I'm going to get one of those and take up going to trail centres.
It's not a wholly bad idea just not the kind of execution that's desirable. Imagine when that motor and power pack has been shrunk to 10% of its current size. Then it would be amazing. This is just the start of its evolution.
would it be legal to use it at a trail centre?
Doesn't look too bad to me- all my other bikes go up hills pretty well but my downhill bike sucks at it- how cool would it be to just motor up to the top of plora? And with the kit off my Last it'd still weigh, mmm, about 51 lbs I think so could be worse.
It'd almost be worth it, just for the start of the endurance dh at the fort, zooming past everyone else on the climb up to the wallride 🙂
they'd have to catch you first 😛
so long as the power assist stops above 15 mph its legally a bicycle
not keen on the forks
Its the mtb version of a mobility scooter.....
so, legal on bridleways as long as it doesnt do more than 15mph unassisted?
Anything on what speeds it can do uphill?
I could live with 15mph up a typical uphill fireroad ..
Am guessing the frame alone is many thousands?
EDIT: Nice, 31.5lb just for the frame, and over £4k ..
What's the point of a bike if it's electric? Seems stupid to me...
I think the frame is around Euros 5500 or thereabouts.

Think about it for a moment, think about all those people who don't ride bikes now but would switch to one if there was a viable, effective electric bike that was light enough for everyday use.
Plus a lot of people like the idea of getting to the top of a hill more easily. It's not really rocket science.
not stupid, maybe not just for you. if you like going down hills lots but don't like pedalling up them, you can take your own ski lift to afan. great for fat lazy people like me. not great for fat lazy poor people like me though i fear.
Compared to this non electric Nicolai Nucleon E2 for about the same money, the electric one is a bargain no?
EDIT: Also this non electric Nicolai Nucleon AM is similar money too?
ouch - MemberWhat's the point of a bike if it's electric? Seems stupid to me...
Calling Ton to the thread...
Or, actually, me... There's a decent chance I'll need more surgery for my hip at some point in the near future, and when I do it'll mean more muscle damage and more recuperation time. Last time, it took me about a year of hard work to get to the point where I could ride a bike at all. An electric bike could have got me out riding- not the riding I want to do really, but any riding is better than none. Doesn't seem so stupid.
"Since we removed the Nucleon Evo from our range in 2008 we‘ve repeatedly been approached with requests for a freeride and downhill bike with G-Boxx 1 and 14-speed Rohloff(R) technology."
repeatedly!
That's got to be £10k of bike there.
is ton still on the leccy bike ?
if he is don't let him see this.
These do slightly scare me as the combination of weight from the frame/motor/battery, limited incentive to keep the weight of other components down when you don't have to peddle it up the hard bits means a fair old mass in a crash over and above a normal DH bike, having been brained by my old fashion pedally bike more than once as its caught up with me post crash I wouldn't want to be hit by one of these.
