Anyone local or with local knowledge able to point me in the direction of a 20-25 mile gravel route in or close to the Llŷn Peninsula?

If there's not much gravel then a similar length country roads one would do.

I think we're staying near Criccieth so from the door would be ideal.

Thanks

Y Lon Goed is just down the road from there. It's only about 5 miles so you'd need to add other stuff on - though there's a bit of a scarcity of good off road around there. It's also only a FP if such things worry you, though given it was built as a cart track I'd suggest that it's quite clearly misclassified and should become legally rideable under the expected Welsh access reforms anyway.

yeah my in-laws live in Criccieth so im always looking for options round there.

There is a pretty cool cheeky loop i do sometime round Tre'r Ceiri with its iron age hill forts which also takes in the Nant G DH track! not really suited to gravel bikes tho.

Pont Scethin is the usual stock response but ive never ridden it. its a drive too. I inevitably end up driving away for the day so aim for Snowdon or Cadair Idris or one of the trail centers, Dyfi / CyB etc.

there is a hill on the way to Porthmadog called Moel-y-Gest that we have walked, great views out to sea - loads of tracks between there and Borth to explore.

FIL is a proper lycra bandit and swears its a mecca round there for tarmac warriors but i dunno about any of that nonsense...

Cheers for those.

We're not expecting to have a huge amount of time so would prefer not to drive out as it will eat riding time.

The wife is kind of over mountain biking but happy to tootle round country roads and canal paths hence gravel kind of stuff.
