Sorry for putting this on the main forum, but im short on time!

I've just been convinced to have a go at the Notts/Derby CX final round tomorrow, but knowing the ground conditions at present I dont think my current and only CX tyres being sammy slicks will be up to the job.

Does anyone have a pair of CX mud tyres they'd sell? any condition considered providing they've got more knobles than my schwalbe's. Please contact me on addy in my profile, any offerings in a reasonable distance I can collect asap.

Of course I'll still be having a go if I dont get more appropriate tyres, they may be a good excuse for the performance i'll be putting in anyway.....

David Jack from Moore Large has a stall at each race and sells tyres - he should be able to sort you out!

Hoping it stays frosty might cut down on the slop quotient tomorrow, you might get away with the sammy slicks.

😆 We've raced there twice. The first time was a total swamp, last year it was a swamp with some slightly less swampy bits.

The start bit up the tarmac will be OK on Sammie Slicks. Actually probably not 🙂

Beeston Cycling Club will make sure it's muddy 😉

OP, did you race today? Great fun I loved it. Complete clag fest, so much fun. Someone on a fat bike was sliding all over the shop...!

It was great, saw plenty of people having moments and dropping it. Was going alright until a puncture just before the bell, probably serves me right for feeling smug about all the broken mechs whilst grunting away on a singlespeed.

Certainly did, not on sammys fortunately (picked up some vittoria's from cyclomonster yesterday avo). How muddy was that!!! Spent a heap of time pulling handfuls of mud out of the drive train each lap! How do the fast folk seem to keep their bikes so clag free?

Defo need to practice running with the bike more and loose some lb's. Oh well, 9 months or so to practice for next season.

Ride so fast the mud doesn't stick. Or in reality change bikes every lap or half lap.

Glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Can't comment on your race, but something I learnt this year (my first) is sometimes it's best to run sections not just because it might be faster, but because it stops your tyres clogging up and makes you faster over the whole lap. I also noticed that sometimes there was a 'dry' line that might not be the racing line, but when you only have one bike it's the one to take.

Crikey, I came 9th! Very happy with that. Had a great battle with 8th throughout, but a coughing fit on the last lap dropped me back...

Much thanks to ariyalnit off here for sorting me out with some replacement shifters last week!

Dunno if you'd class me as 'fast' particularly but despite having two bikes and a pit crew I still needed to nurse one bike round for a couple of laps yesterday due to a suspected puncture - I took the same lines as I was doing anyway but pulled all the mud off the bike while I was carrying up and past the big bank. The rest of the course was rideable so it was the only suitable place to do so.
