Hi,

Looking at new tyres soon and thinking of Vigilante up front. Was thinking 2.6 but on WTB site it's 1194g while 2.8 is 1126g (iirc but definitely a fair bit lighter).

This seems unlikely to me but I've been in touch with WTB support and though they can't give me a clear understanding of why they say it is true based on their samples weighed. However there was a lot of waffle about variances etc and I wasn't that convinced.

Wondering if anyone is running this and weighed it before fitting and can confirm please? I suppose if anyone has weight for 2.6 would also be useful.

If the weight is true it makes a 2.8 appealing if I can fit it in a 2016 non boost pike.

Please if anyone has insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have both, and when I weighed them difference was about 60g IIRC… but the bigger tyre is A LOT slower rolling. Presumably there’s a corresponding amount of extra grip as well… but the 2.6 is good enough, so I couldn’t really tell you to be honest.

Thanks for the replies. Should have said 27.5 light max grip.

So for yours I presume 2.8 60g heavier? If rolling is a lot worse though may go with 2.6 anyway. 2.8 may not even fit.

Thanks again.
