hello...
i'm toying with fitting some of the above to my cross bike this winter.. normally i run Maxxis Mud Wrestlers through the wetter months and have got on great with them, however WTB have released the Cross Boss with a gum wall whilst also being tubeless ready... i mean.... what other reason does anyone need?!?
has anyone used them and found them to be truly awful tyres?
i do maybe 1 or 2 actual cross races each season, and more as a bit of fun than anything remotely serious
Great tyres, they set up tubeless real easy, my tyre of choice for the 3 Peaks, roll well, not a devout mud plugger, mine sealed well from several punctures with the sealant doing its job but - and ive heard this from a couple of people - they died when the carcass blew a blister at me when refitting = i'd avoid high pressure fitting.
hmmm... good to know... i have an Airshot to aid me with tubeless.... so you're saying do NOT dump 160 psi into whilst fitting? - noted
Yea, go to the bare minimum to seat them.
Yeah, I've used them a bit tubeless. I'd say they're a pretty good all-rounder, though not a mud tyre. Reasonably quick, reasonably grippy, go up fine tubeless using a Bontrager Flash Charger. I've never thought about seating pressures. I sometimes use one for mixed stuff up front with a G-One on the rear when I want a little bit more front wheel grip. I have not found them to be 'truly awful tyres' 🙂
i'm having them then...!!
