Looking for a new front tyre and have settled on the 29x2.5 DHF , I've seen both the standard 2.5 and the 2.5 WT versions advertised on various sites .

But according to two shops  the WT version doesn't exist in this size ? Only in 27.5

Is it the same tyre ? Or is the tread different on the WT version ?

Thanks

I bought one recently, packaging had no reference to WT but the tyre did. I think Maxxis are phasing out the WT naming. On a 30mm internal rim the tyre measures pretty much bang on 2.5" and has a nice profile to it.

Same tyre but slightly different side walls to suit a wider rim iirc.

Thanks for the replies .... maxxis certainly confuse things with all their different versions .

Orangewinger where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks.

I've got a 2.4 WT DHR2, a 2.5 WT shorty and a couple of 2.5 non-WT minions, imo it makes bugger all real difference. YMMV but I stopped even thinking about it

I have a 2.5" WT on the FS and a 2.5" normal on the HT both on DT Xm481 rims, if they are different It's not noticeable. As Northwind says don't think about it, either will be fine.

Glad to hear there seems to be no real difference , will be handy for future purchases.

Shop have confirmed that there's no WT on the packaging but it's on the tyre , and it was the cheapest online so just went with that option .... and an extra 20% with that eBay PSA .

Thanks all

Maxxis released some info recently - everything 2.4 or bigger (except the Ardent) is now WT. It's a rolling production change, it was basically just missed off the Hot Patch on the tyre and they thought customers would be aware.
