Decided against one of the steeper descents due to diminished braking power, but still managed some great laps and descents on the local moor. Encountered a very miserable older couple and had a brief exchange. Shame they were having such a rubbish day because they don't like bicycles, it was a beautiful day to be outside enjoying the countryside.

A nice easy cruise, trying to get in some easy KMs and climbing. Part of it along the Via Francigena..... Didn't expect Canterbury to be sign posted in the middle of the Tuscan countryside....

We are out in the Peak for the weekend. Few riders out and quite a few walkers. Everyone seemed happy and chatty. Must be down to the good weather.

Probably the last weekend riding we will get before we are back to Verbier for Kevin to face his demons. It's been a hard year and he's still not fully recovered so we will have to take the Alps day by day

If that was Stanton Moor in the first post then the grumpy older people were perhaps concerned about possible further damage to an important area for biodiversity? It’s already under pressure from walkers, loose dogs and people celebrating the Nine Ladies by lighting fires. There are plenty of legal/permissive trails around without upsetting folk and wildlife!

New bike weekend so some old favourite trails to see how it goes. Aye, no bad.

Borrowed a shockwiz to see how bad my carpark set up had been. Again not to shabby.

105 k around a bit of Lapland. About half on forest roads.

As I haven’t ridden this bike for a while, the saddle got to me after 60 k and now my arse is pulped.

Most of the mud has gone, 50km around hebden bridge. Got absolutely smoked by three faster, younger riders coming down pecket well, great stuff! Bristows search & rescue chopper was hanging around above Hardcastle Crags, looked like an exercise, fingers crossed.

It was indeed Stanton Moor. I don't see much sign of damage from any users and I'm up there a lot. However, I might start a separate discussion thread about accessing certain areas

Anyway, today's ride turned a bit cheeky as well - heading over the back of Chatsworth, also got a bit lost for a while.

Prior to that, had a crank fall off. How some people ride without tools is beyond me. Soon back moving again

Beautiful morning for it

IMG_2017Training in full flow for the Hotchillee Stone Circle ride at the end of the month. My fitness is building nicely, only with the prospect of it falling off back to where i started, at Le Mans in 2 weeks. Not good planning

Late start for me due to yesterdays drinkypoos. Wind and sun have dried out the local stuff a treat!

Ace long weekend at the end of the school hols. Not riding, walking, but a great 2 day mini adventure with Mrs el_boufador out wild camping on the fells around Buttermere

20240601_07311720240531_190408

Then out on the bike today at some woods in North Yorkshire. Great sesh, was riding well, conditions were generally good aside from a bit of overgrowth and a little bit of mud remaining. Nailed a step down I've been building up to for a while. Only small but the kick on the jump is horrible. Few pictures as I was having too much of a good time riding

First time out on the bike for a couple of weeks, glorious summer 85km road ride with 1300m ascent to Kingdom Cafe and back. Toys and Hogtrough hills were tougher than usual on the return.. Turns out 2 days hiking in a rainy week's hols and far too much wine and good food are not great training aids... Back on the wagon until August 🙂

I downloaded a GPX from a 2019 MBUK I found in the garage, and set off for a beautiful sunny day in the Surrey Hills.  Not the usual Hurtwood/Winterfold ride, but a bit more of loop with a bit of everything.

It was superb!

@ready - Any chance you can share the link? I did it years and years ago (before I was mapped my rides) but it was wet, cold and windy so I'd like to try again in better conditions.

@hooli I'll try, but I'm not very good at such things!  What's the best/easiest way to do it?

If not, do you do Strava? I can try and DM you the link that way if you do?

Not long back from a week in the Highlands, sadly we still can't embed from Instagram to here and FB seems hit-and-miss too, so I'll share my account link in case anyone fancies a peek:
