I actually took a day off from riding yesterday.
Your title made me do a LOL though.
Getting an early start on the SPD sandal tan for 2025 on this morning's cycle commute to work.

Well, both my boys were too busy with school work to ride this morning (WTF?) so decided to go alone to a favourite spot hoping it wouldn't be too boggy.
It was raining pretty hard when I set off in the car but got a bit ridiculous on the way...so I bailed and went somewhere else for a run instead. At least there's no clean up needed after.
Dunkeld in gloriously dry conditions yesterday. For the first time ever I managed to carry speed well on the trails. I'm cricketing terms I think that I'm a flat track bully.
Half time pint 😀
Jumps sesh this morning, trying to get technique dialled on steep DJ style gaps. I was riding them competently by the end of the sesh, but more repetition, more regularly is needed. I tend to forget what I'm supposed to do, then the next time I go back I spend half the next session working out how to do it again 🙄
Then I went paddle boarding.
Also a photo from earlier in the week - Thursday - family expedition (walking) to an overnighter at a secret bothy.
Been a very busy few days but really felt like I've made the most of the incredible weather
Drove back down to Tollymore for the last dry morning of this current beautiful spell of weather. The views on the way down were fab.
we tried to ride some trails which we haven’t ridden recently, but several trails are still totally unreachable due to tons of trees down from the winner storms.
Too gubbed to post more at the moment. A ride of two halves.
Took the new bike on a tour of Staunton and surrounds. So dry and dusty. Did manage to bend my posh GX Transmission mech when a rock came through the wheel, decapitated a valve and poked the mech with quite the velocity. Still brilliant conditions and a big day out with 58km/13000m of climbing which meant a beer or two was definitely earned.
Also bluebells are out. But having too much fun to stop and take pics.
The last day of my trip to North Wales and the only one that wasn't sunny. I went to Penmachno, which was dry, by Penmachno standards. I took a diversion to an excellent viewpoint which has been opened up since an area was clear felled.
The view down the Conwy valley.
The view of the big mountains. From left to right on the skyline are Lliwedd, Yr Wyddfa, Moel Siabod, the Glyders, Tryfan, Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd and Carnedd Llewellyn.
Back to the local in glorious sunshine this morning. Last little step of hand rehab was to get back on some of the smaller drops to flat to try and gain back the last little bit of confidence over my grip strength (I've been bottling drops since getting back riding since they're the biggest landing impact and my brain hasn't shaken that 'what if...' invasive thought). Went well - did come off once but that was bad line choice on take off rather than my hand blowing off the bars on landing.
@iamnotamused - I've wanted one for ages but for various reasons kept buying something else! Really happy with it so far- up and down. Felt pretty confident almost straight away and that's a good marker for me on a new bike. I'm tempted to up the fork travel to 160mm but it rides so well, I might wait a bit.
I have somehow managed to cram THREE trail bikes into the big shed (Yeti SB130LR and RipMo v2), but from the three rides so far, I'll only be riding this one from now on. Off to Bulgaria mid June- was going to take one of the other bikes, but already thinking this will be the one going in the bag.
How long have you had yours?
@Alex Had it just over a year. Found the sixpack bars too stiff so put some oneups on recently and they've made a massive difference to how the front end felt. Also got a custom tune done on the forks from TF a while back. Very happy with that bike now
Proper old school xc. Sore this morning.
@iamnotamused - agreed on the bars. I have some OneUps to go on there. I wasn't sure of rise etc I wanted when I was using the Propain build tool so decided to go with the six-packs until I'd ridden it. And they're definitely first thing to get changed! Along with adding a Rimpact to the rear, a one up bash guard and some pedals that don't clash so horribly!
I'll probably get Sprung (my local suspension fettlers) to do their stuff on the fork. It's just whether I put in a longer air spring. I do have some 160mm 36s on another bike so I'll probably try them first
It's a shame I've just got the bike and now the weather is looking grim. Ah well had three sunny rides on it so far...last week was riding it in Germany with my mate who lives just east of Frankfurt. Amazing MTB community have basically built a couple of bike parks.
@simon I'm trying to work out where your ride is. That looks like Lister's Mill so I'm thinking Baildon Moor and Shipley Glen but I don't recognise the post you're leaning your bike against or the rocky outcrop
Yes, the rocky outcrop is Baildon Bank and the pole is Baildon Moor looking out over Shipley Glen.
Shakedown 8 mile ride on my new Beady. Lots of stopping to tweak riding position. This thing is so quick to pick up speed, super fun.
Trails are still super dusty, despite a little shower overnight, i need to find time to ride more in the next couple of weeks.
Quantocks today, as my mate would so eloquently put it " Drier than a nuns chuff !" 🤔
Epic lads on ebikes ride. Cutgate out and back, WLT and New Pants Please (Alpine). Beers and piss taking at Ladybower Inn.
All of us smoked by a pro level XC rider on a 100mm travel non-e bike with inverted rise bars.
The promised rain never arrived and it was an absolute belter
Not the most GNAR of riding but I had a solo spin around Chicksands whilst taking the opportunity bunk off work for the afternoon and pick the bike up after its first service at BRINK.
I’ve struggled a lot with features… stuff I had no problem with 18 months ago was becoming a bit of an issue… lack of bike time and loss of fitness had a lot to answer for whilst working a stressful job last year
Anyway, I pushed myself, I’m pleased with these screen grabs and I’ll push a little harder on my next ride too!
Greno & Wharny today... Total dustbowl!
Some great new/rebuilt tracks down where they've clear felled it near wharncouver but it really does need some rain to hold the dust together and give some more grip
The thousand yard stare of someone who got up at dawn and rode 178miles and was disappointed not to make it to 200miles 😬
Ohh well, that leaves that milestone for another day 😂
Route was an extended variation of the Poor Student Audax from January, riding to the start from Reading then the original plan was to turn south off the route after Swindon and head to Basingstoke to make up a few extra miles before heading North home again. Actual route was:
Reading - Pangbourne - Oxford - Chipping Norton - Malmesbury - Reading
Ran out of legs ~140km in, not sure why, I was eating and drinking but it wasn't working. By 180km it felt like there was nothing, whichever gear I picked my legs just felt numb and would neither push or spin but by that point I was turning the corner and the only way was home.
The next 100km hurt, my gloves had started to cut in between my fingers, and going gloveless on the OEM bar tape and bars (Sorry Sonder, it's low density rubbish on skinny diameter bars) lead to painfully numb hands. Double wrapping the bends and moving the cables before the next long ride.
I'd set off hopeing to do 300k (or even an extra loop to 200miles) but only made it to 285km/178miles in the end. The legs were dead and I'd run out of places to hold the bars that wasn't painful.
