Well, there's a hosepipe ban here in Yorkshire ...
Not been posting ride pics up here for a few weeks, for various reasons - but got out for a 22km Stainburn session this morning for a bit of everything it has to offer ...
Another glorious day down here. 30 miles and 3,200’ of elevation today, 86 miles and 7,200’ for the week.
I went racing last night with Reeksy. He kicked my arse.
Beers, burger, banter ensued. Awesome
Day 3 of my bimble around Suffolk and it was a bit warm. The comedy bike tan is coming on well with sharp lines for sleeves and legs! Yesterday was very, very sandy in parts. Hitting a bit of beach while travelling downhill at high speed on 40mm tyres is a "See God and back off" affair. The Sizewell C site is huge and causing all sorts of temporary traffic regulations in the area between Benacre and Sizewell.
Did the four passes yesterday under sufferance. As expected I redlined on the first hill and then spent the next 8 hours suffering and nearly blacked out twice.
Worked too hard last week and even on Wednesday I was getting dizzy spells due to being knackered.
We averaged 5km/ h moving and just over 3km/h overall!
Drove across from Italy into the Queyras yesterday and today was our first ride into the hills
Started off with a climb to hit some singletrack which would drop us into Abries with a view to using the lifts to gain some height to reach the trails we were heading for. However the lifts we closed today so set off climbing up the trail to reach them but had to sack it off after 300m of climb as the trail disappeared into waist high grass. Tried to cut through it but gave in and picked up some trails over to the next town.
Fingers crossed the lifts are open tomorrow 🥵
Probably the last riding day of my alpine holiday, since rain is forecast for tomorrow. Made my way across to Les Gets today. Haven’t ridden some of these trails in years. Have to say, although it wouldn’t be my fav place to ride, the place is looking great.

Just did a few miles in the woods with my son today.
Also just fitted the ugliest and most inappropriate 60mm stem to my road bike to test out the extreme short end, as I think the frame's at least 1 size too big for me and 90mm was still a little stretched feeling. Looks awful (but at least matches the bar tape for ugliness) but feels pretty comfy, will give it a proper ride tomorrow
Sunset mission around the local gravel with a good mate. Wonderful evening, even a persistent slow puncture couldn’t dampen the mood
Not too far from the OP this, 25 miles, round Wetherby/the Wharfe Friday tea time. Ice Cream man had gone home when I finished though, I was devastated!
Cooked a bbq for the family this evening, then went for a ride. 10 miles of single track, accompanied by badgers, deer, owls, a few rando birds of prey and squirrels.
Forgot my bottle, but had some water in my hip pack luckily.
Evening rides are the best!
Early solo local ride for me this morning to avoid the heat.
@hardtailonly we were at Stainburn on Weds, well over the road, it was riding really well, dry and dusty but not too overgrown 😎
Rode to the top of Round Hill (the highest point on the N.York Moors) with a mate. Cafe stop on the way back. Great ride out.
Another pootle round the local area, looking for different paths about, ended up cycling up to yair and doing some of the trails up there.
Say hello to my little friend
still feeling the nettle stings on the legs - that summer feeling
Bit cooler this afternoon in West Yorkshire - so just back from 18km around Baildon moor and Shipley Glen. I imagine everyone was at Filey or trying to park in Malham, it was so quiet. No need to hose the bike down, just dust it down!
No pics but did have a very nice pint of Saltaire Blonde mid way round
I went racing last night with Reeksy. He kicked my arse.
Beers, burger, banter ensued. Awesome
Many people also kicked my arse too!
Great fun and huge respect to Weeksy for setting it up and lending me a bike.
Exploring some different bridleways this evening. Still yet to find much fun stuff locally but got a nice 17 mile loop out of what we have now, could have probably got it up to 20 with an extra bit but it was getting late in the day and I was hungry! Making the most of this whilst it's dry as it feels like the kind of riding that will turn to slow slop when it gets wet.
Cape Wrath. 28*c. Pure melting.

Not much time left in Japan now so trying to make the most of it before coming home in September.
Uplift day on Saturday. In Fujimi Panorama, not quite Alps level but still 8k of downhill from the top. It's only muddy in the shades so got caught out lining up a berm. (For your amusement)
Followed by 30k on the road on Sunday. It was roasting, reached 42deg at one point so didn't do any more.
Usual Saturday morning on the bike - old skool XC loop on the edge of the Howardian Hills/Sutton Bank.
