You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Been a while since I started one of these.
You know what to do.
Ride your bike.
Take a couple of pics.
Post them up with a few words.
Local, local spin round for me this morning checking out an extension and rebuild of a trail that's used in the off season by a World Champ DH local.
It's bloody lovely.
Not putting pics up for obvious reasons...
42km/1200 meters and no bike washing needed.
Result.
Fork & shock on Aeris AM were serviced yesterday, so I took it up to Stainburn for a few runs this morning ...
Overnight flight home from 12 days work in Dubai, bike was in the car, so stopped at Box Hill for n the way home.
Video to go with the above.
Reeksy1's coach has gone to Sea Otter (Australia) so we went for a pedal while Reeksy2 had coaching and Mrs Reeksy hiked. Hot as buggery which we weren't expecting.
Got home from a week away with work and managed to get out on the trails before rainmageddon, which is due tonight apparently.
FunGuy on my ride was Danny Welbeck, heard his second go in over the rustle of autumn leaves on the Stanmer singletrack. The fungi looked like inspiration for a Yes album cover. Trails in phenomenally good nick at the moment
Stainburn for me this morning. First ride since April and only the 4th time I've ridden my RocketMax since I bought it in Feb! It's been a shit year for mtb.
Got 2 days in Wales planned next month so need to some practice in!!
Solo big mountain mission in the Cairngorms.
Perfect October morning.
Carn Ban Mor summit, heading up to Sgòr Goaith.
Weather playing a bit of a burlesque dance with the views.
Sgòr Goaith summit, looking down on Loch Eanaich.
Allt Ruadh descent.
I couldn't really be arsed today as I've got a sore knee but the weather for next week is looking a bit ropey so motivated myself to get out. Just 20 miles due to the aforementioned knee, but I really enjoyed it.
Reet dark this evening. Thick clouds meant I couldn't see anything outside of the torches. Mild, dry, fast running trails. Perfection. Also outran the monsters again!
First child-free day off in ages so got out on the road for a quick ride this morning before the rain comes. Taking it easy as I have what I believe to be a ganglion cyst forming on my wrist, might have a chance to ride the MTB next weekend which I don't want to jeopardise! Fitted the ugliest 60mm stem in the world to try and move my weight off my hands a bit. Think it's helping but feels too cramped on the drops so 70mm might be the move here. Also thinking of going 30c and tubeless to take some of the sting out of our poorly maintained roads!
I figured Saturday was possibly going to be the last of the dry days, so I decided to take the Dekerf out as it's not been ridden all year and what's the point of owning a bike you don't ride?
Managed to sneak in a ride over the tops before the rain arrived. Still amazingly dry on the moorland trails, maybe not for much longer. Bunch of electric motorbikists tearing it up on stoodley 😡
Had a fab day out in the "Pludds" (FoD) where rumour had it last years extensive forestry had destroyed all (and there are alot) of trails. Not the case, although around 50% gone. Amazing conditions, loads of 'shrooms and other autumn goodness. Failed to take any pics 😉
So stole this from my mate @trusty who was riding a few miles away.
Having fitted a longer dropper on the 5010 (last upgrade!), I'd attempted to keep the bar furniture clean by replicating the SRAM mount that housed the now removed Reverb. A combination of that mount being the SRAM ShiftMix (as I dumped the original SRAM G2s) and Wolftooth not having the greatest solution, the lever ended up in a terrible position unless you have a triple jointed thumb.
So I stole my spare WT std mount off the hardtail and bar karma has now been restored.
Steady 21 mile local loop yesterday on the Kenevo while I wait to get a spoke repaired on the Levo.
No riding today as I groomed my beard, dug out my hair shirt and we went for a night in Hebden Bridge last night. I can definitely NOT recommend La Vida Mediterranean restaurant. Still, had a decent night though.
I was on holibobs in Spain all last week generally living the high life (walking but also a lot of eating and boozing) so no riding for me. Landed back in the UK late on Friday night and had the best of intentions to get out yesterday but I felt all knackered and gluttonously fat (as result of said holiday) so I sat on my arse all afternoon accidentally.
Was determined to make the most of the dry trails though, so got up early this morning to beat the rain. I only intended on a localish loop however the weather was way better than expected (sunshine!!!) and I also had a tailwind heading west so did probably the favouritest trail ride I can do from the door out on local singletrack finished with some moorland enduro shredding. Train back home.
Trail and riding conditions totally perfect, everyone out walking was in a good mood and got chatting to one fella out walking who was really really positive about the benefits of MTB he was seeing for the yoot who live down in the town (this is bearing in mind although it's permitted to ride on the moor I was on, it can be a bit of a flashpoint if abused).
Rain held off until I literally stepped in the front door.
Didn't even feel *that* fat and unfit (a lot better than yesterday!) but I've got work to do on that front for sure...
Great ride 👍
Loving the pics this week. After the summer we've had, it almost feels vulgar to have had such a perfect autumn (so far - I suspect we're about to get our comeuppance).
I didn't take any 'shroom pics, although Rothiemurchus was hoachin' with them. Saw a Tremulous Susan, several Brazen Mind-Fondlers and even a Gastrell's Flange-Lantern.
My brother called last night in a panic, he’d just landed in Hong Kong and realised he had left a very important digital data device behind. So I need to go to his house in Surrey, break into and retrieve it.
Rain wasn’t due to start till 1030 in Dorking so I left at 5:30 and with the rain arriving a little later, got another ride in, 21 miles, 3,300ft of Elevation.
most fungi seem in NW part of gb, been a few places its been nothing but too dry from FoD to Peak district to northants
Wasn't planning on riding this morning, but the forecast changed and I got a local spin in. Shrooms everywhere - could still be there now if I'd stopped to snap every clump I spotted.
The forest was most colourful at the weekend. Managed to get a ride in yesterday morning before the rain came in - which hasn't stopped since.

Will the image upload? Heck yes!
Local loop to the Giant Redwoods.
And keeping with the season, some Fungi from the other week when the upload function took a holiday.
A few of us went along to the Trailbreak "Badlands" event on Saturday in Princes Risborough, somewhere between gravel and xc bike territory with 45 miles of bumpy bridleways including the Ridgeway where it was all baked solid along with some lovely swoopy singletrack descents and some country lanes to link it all together.
Weapon of choice not knowing the trails was my new (to me) 2018 Blur with the wheels pinched off my XC hardtail, but friends were on a selection including an XC hardtail and a drop-bar frankenhardtail gravel thing and we all had a blast. I think we were very lucky it rained the day after rather than the day before as apparently last year it was hellish!
