1st ride for me since ssuk. My vans been in the garage, and after £1400 for the privilege, I got it back and went for a ride.

3 and a bit hours and 20 odd miles later, I had a nice collection of different mushrooms from around the forest!

20250919_105545.jpg20250919_105540.jpg20250919_105351.jpg20250919_102922.jpg20250919_102200.jpg

The weather was stunning too, much different from recent drizzle and heavy rain. Trails are running beautifully, just enough dampness to give some grip.

I had a nice chat on a few occasions with the same biker, too. As a solo rider, having the occasional natter really adds to the ride.

Can't wait to get back ok the bike!

I'm not sure this should count as a weekend ride because I did some work afterwards. It was a bit misty up on the hill first thing.

It brightened up and there were fungi.

Quick lap o the woods after work. Nowt special but was nice to get out while the trails are still relatively dry. Only a couple of greasy bits. Hope the rain tomoz doesn't wreck it.

I was out locally too. Just over a couple of hours / 30km. Woodsy-XC-Tech  Trails were better (apart from the dog-shite; must've run through 4/5 of 'em!) than yesterday, not as good as Tuesday night!

First ride back in my happy place after a broken back 10 weeks ago. I saw a lovely red toadstool but didn't take a photo of it PXL_20250919_123727310.jpg

The forecast for today was abysmal. But I really fancied biking, so I went to Tollymore fully prepared to ride in the rain the whole time. But amazingly, there wasn’t one drop of rain. Just fab, fab trails.

No mushrooms for me, but a bit of riding, bit of digging (to test out the new tool). All good for a quick Friday spin.

Kids coaching is over for holidays but I managed to get Reeksy1 out for a 40km mixed surface ride. No mushrooms but a coke and a coffee.

Feeling tired and uninspired yesterday, but desperately clinging to the coat tails of Summer.

Yesterday a mate wanted to go to sherwood pines, as we hadnt been before. Still waiting for the rain so we headed f0r the DH/jumpsz area.We got lost, couldnt remember the directions we were given but got there and spent the day around there and tornado alley.

It was dry, but found many Fly agaric and others with their boletes. Im not sure what the other amanita is

Must go again and try the other trails but an xc bike wouldve been  a good move,or an ebike.

4th Ride this week on the new bike. Forecast was grim but we suffered nothing more than some "cooling drizzle"

Confident starting to come back even in occasionally greasy conditions. I really need to change these tyres tho.

25km of mostly XC in the FoD followed by a pint. We did go to ride the "mushroom trail" but sadly been logged so no mushy pics 🙁

9 years ago today. Scariest corner in the world.  Valgorge in France.  Don’t tap the cliff or fall left.  Your remains would be best collected with a spatula.  It’s a long way down

4 attempts to ride it. Felt fairly life affirming! 025371DC-60DC-499C-9298-268AD6FBDDC0.jpeg

An hour 20mins on the SS gravel bike this morning - after yesterday's deluge, it's a beautiful morning out! And trails not too hammered ... Gravel is still gravel, and the bits of singletrack I rode were still mostly firm, with a damp surface. Lovely!

Just a bit of this and a half hour on the rollers for me this weekend! My son is already looking too big and cramped for his bike, I think we only got it last summer but must have had a growth spurt!

Out on the ebike from 9.30 till 13.30'ish. Fabulous out in the Derbyshire Dales. There are more stunning locations, but feel so fortunate to be able to pedal out to this from my door

With added mushrooms

Half an hour after ariving at the campsite we were out on the trails above Finale for an afternoon blast in the Le Manie area

It always feels good to be out in the hills here.

Trails as expected were dry and fast. So much fun chasing each other down.

Storms forcast for tomorrow and most trails will be closed for a while

Sunny Sunday morning spin out today. Legs and lungs still struggling after 5 weeks off the bike recently (bad back and then Cellulitis). Kept an eye out but still no mushrooms in The Shire yet. Did 'find' a new, unopened trail in the woods for a test run.
