Just a fairly short ride on the local dirt this morning, timed to be back before the rain started. Except that it didn't really.
Windy Winchelsea ride this morning with my lad. 8 miles, half of it glorious, the other half headwind!
Hoping to get out tomorrow morning for a long ride by myself.
Last day in Torbole so we decided to have a gentle pootle to a lake up in the hills. Last 10 miles back was in a thunderstorm. Even the rain was warm.
Tomorrow we move a bit further through Italy
Just a local ride for me, put together a route linking up the few wooded singletracky areas we have nearby. Only about 13 miles but have a couple extra options to extend it further. Been experimenting with saddle and bar height/positioning, amazing what a difference just small changes there can make to comfort and speed. I've gone from having a bike I hated to pedal around on to something that feels a lot more efficient and comfortable.
Seaside Shuffle on the Purbecks 👌so good I did it twice in 3 days 👍
Rode some of the best singletrack ever yesterday, outside of the bike park trails in the portes du Soleil:
Haven't ridden the RocketMAX for a while and it's off to BPW next weekend, so a local shakedown was in order. Good job too. Deffo need to top up the sealant in the rear tyre and bleed the brakes. Plus, I now need some new grips after spannering the current ones on a tree while chasing Strava...
(thankfully, spannering my actual self was mercifully very limited beyond my dignity dying as I staggered the bike sideways for a bit before dumping myself on my arse)
The calender said Lakeland 200.....neither me nor son felt remotely in a place to attempt that, so we took a road trip south from hebden to castleton, down the east, overnight camp at castleton yha, then over by rushop edge to chinley and back up the west. Lakes 200 is clearly a way off, the strines in a gusty wind nearly did for me, and a major bonk at saddleworth (got our calorie intake a bit wrong). Good wee overnighter though!
Wet one this morning, left my phone in the bag so didn't get many pics of trails. Jacket came off after a couple of miles, despite the rain as it was so muggy.
I did a bit of an explore after a lap of the red route, which is fast becoming my favourite thing, it's fun to get lost in the woods!
South downs way yesterday, the trail quest event.
According to Strava the last time I did this was in 2016, it's changed a lot but also stayed the same.
Very strong southerly winds and light rain made for some fun riding.
Rode the beautiful Swiss national DH trail at Les Crosets today. What a fantastic trail - must be one of the most scenic trails ever!
the day was marred/made unforgettable by my bike falling off the chairlift from Les Crosets to Champery! The rear wheel is tacoed. But hopefully, otherwise the bike has survived. Im glad it happened somewhere I could walk back down and collect the bike. And that it was somewhere my wife could drive to collect me from, since the bike couldn’t be ridden home!
Seaside Shuffle on the Purbecks 👌
Glad there's no photo of that - dirty boy
I think it's the longest I've not ridden a bike in 8 years...but I got to ride @weeksy 's bike today 😀
Me and the Reeksy Jrs got shown around uplift FOD by the Weeksies. Weeksy was an absolute legend looking after us and especially Reeksy2 who proclaimed it the best day of his life (as he does after every ride tbf).
And young Weeksy looked after Reeksy1 - showing him all the good lines (when he rode slow enough for him to see them).
And who would have guessed Weeksy is a Geordie?! 😉
Grey kinda miserable road ride this evening for me. Not particularly enjoyable but made me feel a bit better about the bacon sandwiches and cake I had for lunch 🙂
It really rained today on my ride. Water pouring up out the drains. My photo fails to capture the wet
Then we to see bands and it rained again
But it was still a great day
No actual riding pics, unless you want some GoPro footage, but no one wants that....
Fab weekend riding Dyfi - 6 vans in convoy from Derbyshire Friday night. Campsite beers Friday night in the rain, Dyfi Saturday in the rain, fabulous curry in Machynlleth Saturday night, more campsite beers.
Couple of the lads rode Climachx Sunday , but most of us couldn't be bothered even on ebikes.
There was a lot of chatter when I enquired about taking an ebike to Dyfi with people (not here) saying don't do it, get a DH bike etc. It was bang on TBF, no detriment apart from lifting it on the trailer, but I've done that at BPW before. Bonus of being able to wear my dry suit too
Did the reds, most of the single blacks and a double black. Even got a trophy - ok, it looks like a newish segment, not that many people on it and it was an ebike segment. But a trophy at Dyfi is a trophy, right? 😂
Arrived at our next stop yesterday and after torrential rain for 12 hours we were out early this morning up in to the hills between Lake Maggiore and Lake d'Orta. Using a mixture of Trailforks and Komoot we put a 20 mile loop together from the van. 😎
No shuttles in the area so having to earn the DHs
It's always good to explore new areas
Gisburn with the little one yesterday - rained a bit, then the sun came out so there was a mad dash to get sub cream on. Then it rained even harder!
