You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A big day out was planned and a big day out was had! With my mate Trusty (some photos are from his phone). Yat to Tintern with a big hill on the way out and another one on the way back, after a "recovery pint". Managed to crash in a gully so now have a sore shoulder but worth it for about 98% off road, 58km and a somewhat leg wearying 1450m of climbing 🙂
Started raining as I got home. The sun had shined on the righteous 🙂
That's me after the crash having bounced off the wall of the trench. Proper "feel the force" Luke 🙂
Also 4th ride on the new bike (3 of them have has over 1200m of climbing!) and I really like it. Climbs as well, or maybe even better than my RipMo and seems to work well with any kind of descent, even with a "you will die in a fire" 65.5 degree head angle.
32 miles round Hamsterley today. New family blue bit is fun, needs weathering in a bit to get rid of all the loose marbles but its exactly what the sport needs. A chance for people to get their first taste of riding Singletrack. And if you go really, really fast down it then it's pretty fun too.
A short ride for me today and first one this week due to straining my back doing some slabbing.😠
18KM/700Meters.
Hopefully it'll ease off a little tomorrow.
Just been out to make the most of the weather, as it’s due to rain heavily tomorrow.

Revisited an old Skool XC loop I first did 30 years ago! Steel hardtails then Marin Bobcat Trail fully rigid, slightly more .odern version this evening 😁
I did a spin around my happy place...although the tracks are pretty bad after all the rain we've had. Found some curious bush fruit...didn't eat it.
Spent the day at Friston today. Great time had, despite a relatively hard crash where i was carrying too much speed for my talent. Front wheel washed out and I landed on my shoulder, then chest. I made the huuuuurgh involuntary noise, and everything!
I forgot to take any photos, but my mate just sent me this of me 'admiring the view'.
Still a few tweeks to make to the beady, but its such a fun bike to ride.
Managed another ride today but forgot to take any pictures again.🙄
40km/1700meters with a bunch of ebike****ers from down south.
We are in the Peak for a long weekend. Got here mid afternoon and managed a five mile hike before the rain arrived. Hope it dies out over night for tomorrow's ride
It's very quiet for an Easter weekend and not many out in the hills
Bah. Just arrived home from a week away with work to several hours of non-stop pishing rain. I’m not going out in that!
I had an expedition yesterday in an area of the North Pennines I'd not ridden in before. I took the bridleway from Slaggyford over to Newbiggin, then over to Lambley via Geltsdale and Tindale Tarn and back to Slaggyford on the South Tyne Trail. The views across the Eden Valley were excellent, the slog across the moor less so.
Holl Gill on the left of the picture, Blencathra to the left of the tree:
I was accompanied briefly by a military cargo plane in Geltsdale:
Squeezed in a quick local ride before heading to the in-laws Saturday for the Easter weekend. Hand rehab continuing, moving on to some bigger drops. Pretty much back to riding the same local stuff I was before the injury in September so that's nice (headspace and muscle memory might not be 100% there yet but the intent is so I'll go with that for now). Was trying to rain as I rode back into the village so dodged the wetness too. A good ride.
Went for a gravel ride...that ended up more of a road ride, truncated due to poor communication with my mate.
Had a good laugh though.
Found a many lounge suite at the top of a killer hill. Thought it was there for a riders rest, but I think it was actually just dumped.
A normally fun downhill has been rendered unrideable by 4x4 ****s.
Managed to dodge the rain in the FoD today. The bluebells are starting to emerge.
@doomanic - they were already pretty good last weekend coming off the Buckstone, and on Thursday heading down the valley to Redbrook. Think it might be "Bluebell day" tomorrow or maybe next weekend for peak bluebell. They might also be a bit damp 😉
Yet again, what a great set of photos. Rain or not, I’m heading out later today. Thanks to everyone who shared photos or stories.
4 of us up at Stainburn yesterday. 3 of us (well, them, ie not me) attempted (2 successfully) a new steep janky line. The pics don't really do it justice. Otherwise, an excellent session, dusty and loamy trails.
Spin out for a couple of beers and a bite to eat for us today.
Still managed 35km/700meters, saw loads of lambs full of the joys of life and a few laps round a deserted pump track.
Filthy weather, and filthy trails. But it was great to be out. Went back to trails that I typically ride in winter, which worked well. It was obviously much wetter than the last few weeks, but much drier and harder under foot (wheel) than winter riding.
25 mile figure of 8 from Castleton. Trails were dry, fast and fun. Did a bit of playing on the way round.
Only saw a hand full of bikers and not many more out walking.
Seen as its been dry for a few weeks we decided to ride Lockerbrook. It was fun in that where the loggers have cut the trail up you can just let the brakes off and blast down it.
Couple of laps of the red trail at Woburn today. Always have fun riding these trails, not a lot of elevation but they managed to keep it interesting. Then I did a few runs at the bike park to remind myself I can't ride that stuff properly any more to stop me looking at DH bikes 🙂
And despite the injury, you’re still nipping along nicely!
Our weekend has been 2 weeks long (and will continue until Wednesday). Took the kids out for a ride together (with promises of a trip to Greggs and free choice of cakes/treats if they managed the green and the start of the red), hardly any whinging at all until they realised I’d left the big bag of sweets on the kitchen table.

I put some childhood haunts into the Garmin and went exploring on Frid. The last time I was here was about 1979, listening to The Clash and playing footy with jumpers for goalposts.
No riding this weekend due to work so spent an hour resurrecting my old hardtail. Long live the Stiffee
After my sojourn in North Wales, I got back on the local dirt singletrack this morning.
I went down to the beach. Not exactly Ipanema nor even Bognor.
There were tadpoles.
What is the collective noun for tadpoles?
Only had the energy for a short lap. But the trails were surprisingly dry (ish) after Friday and Saturdays rain.
2nd day in the Peak and did a 22 mile loop from Castleton 1300 metres of clinbing and descent. Usual places were busy with walkers but only saw 3 out on bikes
Sun was shining, trails were dry. What more could we ask for
Lads Lads Lads ride, beers, punctures, beers, punctures, hip flask, laughs, pub. Beeley, Bakewell, Chatsworth, pub
Leading the shorter club ride today. The Ladies trip to Mallorca is only 3 weeks away and they are getting faster and more excited.
Puddletown last night,

spent an hour resurrecting my old hardtail
Same here. Family day, full of Easter eggs, but spent a few hours this eve fitting a new-old-stock XT front mech to the old hardtail as the original one has been seized for ages. Rain forecast tomorrow 👎
Stunning day here so I had a lovely solo 70km explore around the local area.
Even had a little lay down when I was surprised by a rut in the other side of a blind crest.
Couple of pics of my mate H from Trusty's phone with the blur filter on. And the other 2 of the lush conditions. I didn't take any which is a shame as it's pretty much peak bluebell in the FoD. Expected wetter conditions after quite a lot of rain but still mostly bone dry, with just the odd (very) slippy bit just where you didn't want it!
That's my fourth 1200m+ climbing ride in 10 days. Surprisingly can still walk this morning.
Few more... what a stunning day as well. Blue skies and warm after a chilly start. Managed to secure a table in the pub by the river. Was not keen to leave to ride the last 10km home!
Glorious Swaledale for us. Managed to ride with my brother and sister which is a rarity, and do some good easier rides with my son. Perfection!
Little spin out on the gravel bike. Caught a colleague’s cold so took it easy for 25 miles.
M
anaged no chocolate as well!!!
Managed to bypass most of the crowds for a lovely couple of days in the Peaks. Cavedale was far too busy to get a good run at but the rest of the ride was superb nicely finished off with a few runs of the excellent Win Hill trails.
and then a local loop to take the HT over 6k miles.
