Devisive isn’t it. So imagine buying a red Yeti, a brown Bianchi, or a purple Trek.
Some bikes are just synonymous with their colour, and it feels just wrong. I say this after looking longingly at Cervelo Caledonia-5 in Red. Red I ask you, who’d buy a Cervelo in anything other than black!
me 🙂
See, I think a Cervelo should be red.
When I bought my new shape Trailstar it had to be in the original blue and red colours, it looked cool in black, but also not right.

Doesn't matter what colour you paint that bike hols2 it's going to be wrong 😉
At least if it was matte black, it would be harder to see how ugly it is.
I was with you up until Trek.
What colour is a Trek supposed to be as i've never associated them with anything?
Slightly off topic but 2021 seems to be a crap year for bike paint jobs-pretty much all I've seen so far are terrible.
I'm not getting it. Is Trek supposed to be red, or is that Specialized?
But painting a Titanium frame is just wrong.
My Cervelo appears to be the same colour scheme as this jersey, PITA to clean though.

What colour is a Trek supposed to be as i’ve never associated them with anything?

I can only think of Yeti with a strong signature colour scheme. I can't think of any other MTB that has to be a certain shade.
Don't know/care about road bikes.
I remember when Specialized Sworks use to be red, similar to Trek with red bikes for male racers and pale/light blue for female racers. Similar to Cannondale either being blue or red.
I think Trek and Spec. are supposed to be red.
The manufacturer sells the bike in a certain colour, and you want it, but you don't buy it because it's not the "brand" colour?
I've sold both Trek and SBC and they've both always done loads of colours.
“I can only think of Yeti with a strong signature colour scheme. I can’t think of any other MTB that has to be a certain shade.

Worth repeating!
The best looking Trek bikes were the purple ones from a couple of years back. I had the Stache and it looked lovely. They usually look utterly bland to me.
I have three Cotics. Only one is orange. Some days this makes me slightly sad.
I'm liking 2021 Scott colours! ...... with the exception of some of the Contessas!
I'd have anybodies purple Procalibre 9.8sl if they don't want....
See, I think a Cervelo should be red.
+1

Intense & red? Admittedly they’ve diversified a bit now.
Colours of certain makes/models of mountain bike that stick in my mind:
Singular Swift in pale blue/purple
Yeti turquoise with yellow accents
Cotic Soul in orange
Orange 5 in orange
On-one Pompino in Blue (bathroom blue?)
On-one Inbred in white
Binachi in celeste
Cervelo in red
Islabike's in metallic red with silver writing
Stooge in turquoise
As for colours recent colours of bike,
I'm generally a fan of strong solid colours for frames but I'm loving the colour fades that seem popular. Not sure they will age well though.
Scott 'race' bike need to be black with yellow and white accents, IMO obviously.
I'm glad that men's bikes are finally getting more colours like the women's bikes instead of boring black.
I actively would NOT buy a turquoise/celeste bike, yeti or bianchi
Personal opinion, I don’t like white or red frames and wouldn’t buy one in either colour. Just don’t like red as a colour in general and white always seems like absolutely no effort or thought has gone in to it.
No such thing as the wrong colour if it's a bike.
But I guess if your a factory team issue kit kinda guy then it should match for that all important fraud factor 🙂
I've owned two oranges, neither has been orange, this bothers me. The black and gold one at least looks nice but the blue one? Who the hell owns a blue orange?
Also owned a Cotic Soul that wasn't black and white.
I have a turquoise Stooge and a mint green (close to turquoise) Trek Crockett and really like both. I've also had a red Orange, black (white decal) Cotic Soul and orange Cotic Soul.
🤷♂️
New genesis for retro chic?
WTF is wrong with purple Treks?
Might not be red, but its ****ing lovely!

I can't think to put any colour with Trek.
I put Specialized with red purely because of Jason McCoy.
GTs should be polished alloy too.
Litevilles should be Black or raw aluminium. You can spec them in any colour you want, but I reckon less than 5% are anything other than black or raw, and probably 70 % of those are Black. Probably a higher percentage than turquoise Yetis!
Orbeas should be orange, Cervelos, Willier and Pinarellos should be red.
GTs should be polished alloy too.
GTs, to me, are blue.
The worst thing about bike colours is when different spec bikes, of the same model, are different colours - and the spec you want is the most minging colour of them all.
the best looking trek was the rootbeer annodised trek69 with matching duc32 fork. everything was boring after that
I actively would NOT buy a turquoise/celeste bike, yeti or bianchi
You sir are a wrong 'un.
+1 on Tazzy's Root Beer Trek 69er comment. Was genius.
GT Zaskar: blue and yellow is faster, FACT.
How about Ti bikes in... matte black?
Root beer is the colour for any bike.
Loved that colour.
Orbeas should be orange,
I thought they could be any colour as long as it's not the same as another Orbea.

They seem to have arrived at that boring red with white logos as their flagship colour.

See Orbea.

Correct. Want a Sprit fork for your Alma? Sure. But we'll only offer it in the three top spec colourways and all the custom colours will be a different shade to stock.
Nothing wrong with a purple Trek, that session 9.8 from a few years ago with blue decals was the best looking Trek ever.
The blueberry carbon Mega was simply stunning, every Mega since has had garbage colours in comparison.
Having owned a Zasker, Zasker LE, and an LTS GT all three were polished.
Not too bothered about colour but I'd be disappointed with a Rocky Mountain that didn't have maple leaves.
I did rather like my blue Singular Swift. Less keen on the cream one that came after, looked a bit wrong.
Can totally understand about a red Intense. Early 2000s dream bike right there. Didn't care much for the likes of Yeti or Santa Cruz. But a red Intense...yes please!
GT's should be polished
GT's should be ball burnished!
Ball burnished, then anodised turquoise/aqua blue.
I have a 26" BFe and tried to get the metallic red but it had sold out before I got my arse in gear and ended up with an orange one. Not seen a red one out in the wild but as time went on I'm glad I ended up with orange, Cotics should be orange above any other colour.
Cervelo in red - wrong.
I got this Cervelo in April, imo the best metallic splatter effect paintob since '92! Why would I want it in red when it's got the best bike paint of 2020 by a mile! 😄😄😄

Marin - Grey frame. Bars, stem and forks fluo.
Would it be better if bike brands used alliteration?
Turquoise Trek
Scarlet Scott
Cream Cotic
Indigo Intense...
