You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
45km / 1000m climbing on the big bike today. XC-ish out to a nearby hill and then some fun/fast descending, then back again. We've only had a dribble of rain this week in/near Leeds, so trails were still dusty and dry (it's been raining heavily this afternoon though, so that will dampen things a bit)
@hardtailonly those trails look fab. Epicjnrjnr heading to Leeds in 3 weeks time, any pointers for where to ride? Not sure if he's taking his bike straight away, but knowing where to ride might influence his thinking.....
Just a couple of hours up at Leamington and looking/feeling like a bumbling old man on my bike compared to how all the kids there can ride! Had a little explore of some of the singletrack not in the bike park as well which was nice to mix it up a bit
Last day in the Alps before heading home tomorrow. Had a lovely ride in Morgins with my wife, who normally prefers hiking:
Wet one tonight. Slapped some uberbike finned pads in beforehand. Pleasantly pleased once bedded in, worked well in the wet. Trails needed it though, some excellent grip if you avoided the roots!
Lots of toads out and about, hopping infront of the torch. Also saw a barn owl heading out for the night.
Someone did a hard workout on Friday night which meant weekend riding was a bit painful 😬
Tewantin tracks Saturday morning. DH laps with Reeksy1 at Beeries on Sunday. An IPA beer tasting and too many imperial stouts in between...punishing!
A walk with bikes from Scar House reservoir into Coverdale. The bridleway back over doesn’t exist, so we won’t be doing it again!
The mythical bridleway
2 rides for me this weekend. Yesterday's off pisteing. A bit damper than expected early on so a few sniper roots to contend with, but it soon dried up and was running prime. Screen grab from a vid, was having too much fun (or blowing out my arse on the climbs) to stop for many photos
Then today I wasn't planning to go out riding as we did a big walk in the morning, however it brightened up around tea time, trails were still all dry (improved, even) after yesterday's rain so went out anyway.
Really glad I did, legs even felt good which was surprising.
I love riding on Sunday evening to round off the weekend, when everyone else is watching antiques roadshow or songs of praise or whatever else shite is on the tellybox nowadays.
Decided not to ride today and made three different awnings/windbreaks fit back in their bags, tidied the camper, emptied the shed for the second time in a fortnight and got brutal with anything that hasn't been touched for over a year - into the skip (bikes excepted). Did some bike fettling and also organised the bedroom
No riding for us this weekend. With Abigale back from NZ for a couple of weeks and our next trip starting on Thursday we needed to get some chores ticked off.
New bar remote for me after crashing sorted
New back tyre fitted
Abigales DJ bike got ready to sell
Camper cleaned and stocked up ready to go
Last job yesterday was to book our tickets for NZ in January and put together a bit of an itinerary on what we want to do.
Came to post pics on the "Weekend riding and pics" thread but am denied, since we rode horses - spent a week in the Eden Valley riding the tandem, but in a complete chage went Pony Trekking on Saturday and actually really enjoyed it. You'll have to take my word for it since I'm not allowed to post pics, with us not riding bicycles...
Blowing a hoolie during yesterday's ride - so strong on Dumyat summit I struggled to ride up the last bit and once there had to brace myself! Groups of walkers clinging together for support 😀
Made for a lively descent with a hell of a crosswind.
Went exploring after work on Friday and found a cool little forest I'd never been to before around 10-12 miles out of the city.

It was Friday, but I'm posting this up anyway! Took my daughter to grizedale to ride the NFT for the first time. She's ridden plenty blues, a few red bits, a few natural rides and did a few days in Les Gets a few weeks ago, but she's never done a rocky, nadgery red like the north face before. For us grown ups, it's fairly straight forward, but it was a bit of a struggle in parts for her. They're were bits she loved like the descent down from moor top and she liked the new flow trails.
But highlight was taking her out to top of Parkamoor. I haven't ridden the NF for years, but do go up the first climb and Parkamoor a bit to do the bridleways around grizedale. Every time I go up there I think I'll bring Jess up here one day to check out the view, Friday was the day!
Arrived home yesterday afternoon after 2 weeks near Chatel. The rain started just as I headed out for a “welcome home” ride. It really lashed down. Frozen and soaked. What a welcome home!

Quick round of Llandegla yesterday with the kids - Natural selection was closed last time I was there so nice to ride that, very fun trail - was also dry and loamy, which was nice, but sadly denuded of trees. A lot of logging on that hillside recently. There are two lines now (recollect there were three) and a big steep chute at the exit.
