No way man you're crazy. A PAUL comp hub will last you a lifetime, built in the USA and been doing them WAY longer than their sexier rival Chris King. And really are they uglier than this:
oregon - yes Pauls hubs are lovely (have a 135mm Whub being built at present) however that 170mm rear is just WRONG. Why not put the flanges further out to build a stronger wheel? It doesn't look pleasing to me in any way, even with squinted eyes!
pro 2's are pretty but royce are prettier.

Them paul's are ugly imo. Timburs rigght
aa - walk away from the cidre. Edit is your friend :Op
170mm is an old standard for touring tandems, they're just building to their market. I'd say it'd be the the best looking thing on the butt-ass ugly bike it's designed for.
Interesting point.
I assumed it was a new FAT bike thing.
I don't think I've ever seen a 170mm tandem - they're usually 145mm or at most 160mm. Could be wrong...
perhaps flange not wide as not designed for a fat rim?
perhaps flange not wide as not designed for a fat rim?
Probably more to keep the dishing equal on both sides - stronger that way...
