Their Wicked 650 is now 1999 euros. Makes Orange look overpriced?!!!

To be fair, any other bike you care to mention makes Orange look overpriced.

Very tempted by these but a new bike is quite far down my list. I did get a brief ride on one in the Alps and it felt amazing. A lot like my Specialized but without the flaws ie flexy forks and musical bottom bracket.

I have a Tues and I love it. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another YT

I wish I'd bought one of these instead of the Sunn that I bought, which ultimately broke...

My mate had a Sunn Radical, when I asked him how it was he said "It radically broke"

Supercarp chomp' Eh? Its a bike frame not a Morgan wooden-framed car. Get over the faded early 00's marketing. 😉

If I had the money I'd buy one of these

Wow, 650B sales must be taking off so vigorously that they've had to slash the price to slow things down 😕

The YT is almost certainly handmade, only a tiny proportion of bikes are machine built

I don't care who or what builds my bike or what country it comes from I just want it to be a good bike.

On a personal note, my professional opinion as a lifelong gnarbar is that Oranges are dump. Having had access to my LBS's fleet of test bikes I would happily never ride one ever again.

Where can you test ride a YT industries bike? Just because it offers great vfm, doesn't mean its a great bike to ride, or should I say a bike you will find great to ride!

Read above comments. Anyone with a yt raves about how it rides.

I rave about mine, spec is awesome. I took the plunge and went for the VFM route, came up trumps because I love riding it. However I have nothing to compare it to as its the first FS. Also with sizing it didnt matter, its for DH and I took the biggest one they had because of my gangley legs!

OTOH how often do you get to have a meaningful testride anyway? Most are too short, or somewhere you can't properly try it out, or otherwise hampered, and often they're just not available even for a non-mailorder brand. Not the end of the world I reckon.

Also, the YTs are such ridiculous value, if you don't like the frame you can almost throw it in the bin and use it as a parts donor.

A load of money off on some of the Tues DH bikes as well. Tempting but I don't reckon it would get enough use.

I see what timc means. However no one says 'great bike but its got a really high BB' or 'great bike overall but shock just doesn't feel right'

Loved Steve Jones review of the Wicked and the Rotweld in the same mag. Wicked is a great bike but the Rotweld) is a better bike overall. (2.3k euros versus a 5.5k euros bike). 😆 for double the price I'd want to see that insight. Still you could just read what he'd written.

Depends really, when i bought my first FS Bike in 2008, my lbs got me x8 FS demos, I had most of them for a week, & all for at least a weekend.

Also, the YTs are such ridiculous value, if you don't like the frame you can almost throw it in the bin and use it as a parts donor.

Diminish the Value somewhat doing that though doesn't it?

Weird how in this country we can see mostly non-Yank or Brit bike frames as not as good huh.

Bought mine when it was €2,400 and still very happy with the value for money. All the parts on it are adequately strong and functional and the frame and forks ride as well as anything I have had before. Used to love my Enduro, but this is much more of an all rounder.
Rode it for a week on the Trans-Savoie and I could not of asked for a better suited bike.

Wicked 650B is only available in Small, at the moment. When are they likely to have more stock (if at all?). Tho the thing that concerned me with this bike is the top tube seems quite short on the Large model, concerned it might be a bit cramped?

Canyon Spectral looks interesting but shorter travel and 26" wheels not 650B. Their Nerve comes in 650B but again shorter travel and much steeper angles.

I looked late last week and on Monday and they only had Med and Small's. Still concerned by the short TT tho, so will wait until ive ridden something similar before buying. Tried an ElGuap before in Large that felt a bit short, and those are 15mm longer just looking at basic TT lengths (need to find proper reach/stack figures for the ElGuap).

Dirt just said the Tues is the best DH bike out there so I doubt the YT designed frame(s) are 'throw away' like the sort of stuff you got in CRC direct 😀

I think they really know their onions..

Dirt just said the Tues is the best DH bike out there

That's what I've been saying since April!

Much to the annoyance of my mates who have spent the best part of 6 grand on carbon 'super bikes'. These same mates refer to Dirt as "the bible" and Steve Jones is their prophet so I can't wait to see how they digest this review. I like the comment about riders with plastic bikes, baldy tyres and scratched goggles. He could be addressing my local crew directly.

I had a Trek Session 9.9 last year and I immediately knew I'd made a mistake. No such regrets with the YT.

Bog standard here but this is the bike in question;

Has anyone actually ridden one of these YT Industries 650b's?
Just wondering if these bikes/frames are trail deadening (I.e. absorbs everything),or if they are setup more on the lively side.

Make sure you set your computers clock to German time otherwise the order page won't go live until an hour after the bike has been on sale. Plus, if you do manage to place an order you have to be chosen as a customer to buy one. it's a bit like entering a lottery and there was a lot of very miffed potential customers last year, including me!

To be honest though, for the last few years the actual production bike has been better than the Ltd. edition. I was so happy that I didn't get the Ltd. when I saw the spec changes for the Pro. Very happy with my Bos air suspension and none-fragile wheelset. Oh, and for some reason I've seen about 5 or 6 of the Ltd. editions in the flesh but none like mine. No idea how many they sell.

Has anyone actually ridden one of these YT Industries 650b's?

Yes but as I said briefly and on a fairly mellow DH trail in Morzine. The wheelsize was the last thing on my mind to be fair, it just felt like a very nice bike. Nice geometry for attacking stuff flat out if you like that kind of thing. Currently waiting patiently for the 2014 version to surface.

A mate pondered the Wickeds earlier this year and ultimately bought a Canyonn Strive. The reason was that YT didn't have any spare mech hangers and that was enough to tip the balance of brand uncertainty and Canyon he did buy...

Ok, so I know it's out of stock at the moment, but even when the bike goes back up to 2,399 EUR, it's value for money is pretty much unbeatable.

I've been waiting on Cotic Rocket frames coming into stock since about easter (as the reports of the way that frame rides/handles is exactly what I'm after), but with still no sign of them and the itch to get a new bike sorted becoming stronger, I've been looking at alternatives.

Contenders are:
Kona Process 153; by all accounts the linkage driven single pivot give the bike great handling and is a fun bike to ride.

Then there's the YT Industries Wicked 650b; The spec is great and it's costs almost a grand less than the Kona Process 153. Infact at the current offer price the YT is only £100 or so more expensive than the Cotic Rocket frame (with shock) alone. That's value I'm having trouble ignoring, but I know nothing about how the V4L suspension setup handles. Is it a trail deadening setup/as in just absorbs everything or does it promote hopping and jumping from line to line. (This is the trouble of mail order bikes, no chance to demo)

So what I'm looking for is opinions/or reasons not to go for the YT.
I after a really fun, agile handling bike that will take the abuse that someone coming from a motocross background is likely to give a bike when out on the trails. lol

Ive got a process 153 its the dogs danglies, I knew that it wasnt the best value out there but I received an unexpected windfall so it was all good!

but the Wicked is obscenely good value the only thing that put me off was that Im a massive kona fanboy 😉 and Im not convinced about returns to germany etc when I got my Process from a local shop

and fwiw for the DH boys
.....On 11.12.2013 at 00:00 o’clock (UK Time (GMT): 10.12.2013 at 23:00 o’clock!) the TUES 2.0 LTD Bike will be activated in our online-shop.

Emailed YT regarding the Wicked 650b and when they are expecting it back in stock and they said that there will be a new Wicked 650b coming in, in January/February 2014 and the current model won't be coming back in stock.

I'm guessing the new model will probably be largely the same but with different graphics. Not sure what else they would change tbh.

The wicked 650b seems completely sold out now (not very surprising).

Anyone know when YT usually releases their new bikes? I'd love to see a 650b like the wicked, but with crossmax sx, and different gearing up front.

Whilst it's not for sale yet there is now a piccie of the (presumably soon to be released) 650b Pro model on the home page of the website.

Price is 2999 Euro's.

Looks like it comes with Bos both ends but not the Crossmax wheels you get on the slightly more expensive 26" Pro model.

Will be interesting to see if this is a replacement for the 26" Pro or if they will be doing the Pro in 2 wheel sizes.

I asked them about the 2014 Wicked 650B as I missed the season sale and the Pro's 1x11 is not for me. I've got the reply "for 2014 there will only be the Wicked 650B Pro." 🙁
