After a good dousing with Milton?

Or would that be a money saving tip too far? 😀

Plenty of bottles at the mo, just curious.

Mrs FD bought a new bike on Sunday and they gave her a 'free' bottle. They would not give her a free bottle cage though...

Wiggle are selling High 5 energy gels etc with a free bottle, all for £3!

Ta.

I hope you got a good discount to make up for it!

Might get some gels and chuck out a couple of the really old, skanky ones.

Keep seeing loads of discarded bottles out on the trail - seems a shame to just chuck them away.

Yep. Once once walking the dog when a (fat ATGNI) roadie went past me, took a swig from his bottle and then chucked it on the verge ahead. So I picked it up, took it home, washed it and still use it.

If it's clean, it's clean, why not use it?

are you serious?!!!

Would you wear somebody elses crappy underpants?!

...... no matter how many times you washed them, you'd always know they used to be worn by 'Sweaty crack Bob'

Did you know, if you go to the pub, at least one other person will probably have drunk out of the VERY glass YOUR drink is served in? I know! 😯

IHN - really? He just threw his bottle away? I'd have been giving him some abuse for that. And nicking the bottle.

"Found on the trail" is the only source of bottles in our house. We get through loads because Mrs BigJohn keeps leaving them at the gym.

Stick them in the dishwasher - job's a goodun.

Yep. He was about 50 yards ahead though, and I wasn't going to run after him...

Has it been on the floor for longer than five seconds?

That breath of air you've just taken, Napoleon breathed a bit of that in too......maybe.

Who's to say some one hasnt peed in to the bottle whilst on a long car journey, hence why they disgarded it (not that I condone chucking away wee filled water bottles)

If it's been emptied and cleaned/disinfected, who cares?

Hardly the same though is it. Do you take your own tankard to the pub?

I wouldn't pick them up personally as I don't need any more bottles, unless they were a perfect match for my bike of course.

Also if you are in a pub where the locals keep returning with the same glass and the bar staff oblige to fill up the same glass you could end up drinking a massively diluted bit of their spit. TS

I love this forum...

So... Who here doesn't eat in restaurants, drink in bars and cafes, stay in hotels?

Thought so.

Not wrong with pick it up, was it, use it. Milton, boiling water or dishwasher if paranoid.

Especially if you pickem up after a race when they have only been there an hour or so!! And I thought you lot were tight money saving experts!!

Did a good turn for me and Bristol by scooping up a probably-new-for-that-race 500ml Hope bottle after the Oktoberfest ride last year.

Bit of boiling water, just 'cos, and it's a lot cleaner and less manky than most of the bottles I've had from new.

Will Milton kill Herps and good Aids?
A glass is one thing but a second hand plaggy bottle of doubtful origin?
No sir.

I've taken water bottles from race tracks before now which had been left. Milton and then a wash and don't really care. Wouldn't just grab one which may have been on the trail for ages. The plastic and rubber can get impregnated with crap I left for ages. That said just bought some high5 ones with gels for !£2:50 so don't feel the need to go trail hunting!!

Ofcourse, why not? A wash and its fine, talk about a wasteful lot of buggers.
