I’ve got a set of Deore brakes (about 2015 model) that I bought off a mate, he’s ridden them about twice, when I bought them I bled them as there was nothing going on with the front one, turns out it was completely empty.

I presumed he’d just had a go at bleeding them and royally ballsed it up. Bled it and it’s fine.

Next time I actually ride it the thing is squeeling like a stuck pig and I notice oil over the calliper and shiny wet pads. Great.

Cleaned it it up yesterday, checked the bleed nipple and hose union were all good and off I went. Seems to be leaking now from the bleed nipple - looks to be from the nipple itself rather than the threads.

now, I can buy a new bleed nipple for a fiver or for £25 I can buy a complete brake from CRC, replace the Caliper and sell the new lever on. In your experience is it worth trying to fix them or just replace?

New one will come with pads.

ID keep the used one for spares, you will probably need them.

If the sealing face on the nipple looks ok I'd be suprised if a new one sorted the problem. There could be damage in the calipre itself.

For £25 I'd be tempted to change the lot and save any bother.
