If I were to look into arranging an informal gathering in the lakes in Sept would anyone be interested? If we were to stay at the derwen****er indy hostel on the lake for one or two nights, there are loads of beds there and they serve reasonable meals or you could cook your own. We could have a couple of day rides and then go up to Keswick and get leathered, lol. Or we could do some shorter evening rides as well.
I thought just to keep it simple, meet on friday morning and do the back of skiddaw and up n' down the mountain if people are game. Satrurday: borrowdale bash with extensions. Sunday: Whinlatter then home after lunch.
Wadda do you reckon?
(prepares for people to criticise choice of routes) Don't bother! 🙂

I'd be up for that, but as a lakes local I would be more than happy to meet up for the rides

As long as there's hike a bike, beer, more hike a bike, cumbrian rarebit, more beer and more hike a bike, I'm there...

I'd probably be up for that. Be good to have some different company to fall off/push my bike with.

Cool, looks like a go-er. This is the hostel: http://www.derwen****er.org/ It sits just below ashness bridge so a great place for an evening hike if not a ride.
I know how these things go on here sometimes, once people start to commit it starts to snowball and we'll end up with 40 odd MTBers trapsing through Keswick. I would prefer to plan it for late sept after the schools go back. It's be Friday to Sunday so people could just come for the day if they wish or stay over one or two nights for full shenanigans. If we get enough people we might be able to negotiate a lower bed rate.

Can we have the same band as the other Rich's mini bike fest in a field for a weekend just North of Staveley last year?

Don't wanna step on your toes Rich however I suspect your event might be a bit more hardcore than I would like.
Is it for your lakeland 100/200 event and/or a single speed Gnar fest? plus I really cba to camp 🙂
