[Closed] would running Sektors on my Nukeproof mega be a silly idea?

im sure i've had more silly ideas, but was thinking of swapping my pair of 36's and sticking some sektors on for a lighter xc option, it will obviously change the angles but not too much as axle to crown is only 10mm shorter than the 36's i think, anyone ran their mega with sektors? i could then change back to 36's when required!

silly

well depends on what you do with it. I ran Sektors on my BFe and it felt underforked. But if you ride smooth trails and mince about then it could work 😉

Will be spot-on with Sektors.

Well my Pitch is anyway.

a-c on a 36 is ~545, a-c on a sektor @150 is ~520 it think, so there is really 25mm difference, so ~1* on SA and HA as well as much lower bb. Also you need to factor in that at full compression, things will be steeper too.

The mega really warrants 36s, but sektors(20mm)/revs(20mm)/34s aren't that big of a compromise, where 32s would feel flimsy in comparison.

I think you'll get a lot of pedal strike.

I ran my solo airs at 150 on my Bfe before moving them onto my cube stereo. They were fine on the Bfe but the on the stereo they struggle a bit because I am travelling faster/being more direct

Sektor at 150mm would be 531mm with 20mm axle, or 529 otherwise, according to SRAM.

Mega is designed for a 150-170mm fork so ought to be fine, but there's a personal taste element too obviously- if you feel it's marginal with the 36s then it's not likely to cut it for you with the Sektors.

Absolutely pointless.

If you want a lighter xc option, buy a different bike.

No, just forget about it.

The mega isnt a light bike, 1lb of weight in the forks will make **** all difference.

Just sell it and buy a bike thats suitable for the type of riding you do.

I had Revs RLT Ti on mine, 20mm axle and external bottom headset cup, as a stopgap to get me running. It was obvious from the first ride it needed more. Running Lyrik RC2DH now, much better!
