No it wouldn't.
He might put the forks round the right way and be so impressed with how it rides that he keeps it.

Not at all.

Although I can't help but think the seller would just leave it as it is and see what happenes.

Auction ended because of error in listing. Or maybe because someone has told the seller, and she thinks she can get her money back from the shop!

I road about 5 miles and realised cycling isn’t for me.

She probably scared her self to death braking down hill

I dropped her a message about the forks. Seemed like the best thing to do. I reckon the vast majority of people wouldn’t realise. Bad for the seller and any potential buyers.

It’s such a weird situation and it’s hard to know what to do.
I’ve been in that position twice in ‘real’ life.
The first time was at a kid’s duathlon and one kid was struggling in practise on his BSO that had backwards forks. I had a quiet word with his parents and they were happy for me to fettle things. I was chuffed to see him able to corner without issues later that day.
The second time I saw a neighbour’s kid with backwards forks when I was out the front of my house. I offered to sort it out to the kid (who was with other family members) and they just all backed away like I was the devil incarnate.
What can you do eh?

Was in the local supermarket doing the food shop and they have added some bike for sale as you walk in the front door - 3 different sizes - toddler, kid and adult. The silhouette on the adult bike box has the forks clearly the wrong way round as the disc rotor is on the drive-side and th fork arch at the rear (arch on rear is entirely possible though) - the fork rake looks very strange and almost like it has been photoshopped. Fortunately the photo of the bike inside the box is built up correctly and the forks are the right way round.

Not really sure announcing a 'Clean up in aisle 6!' would get any attention or understanding from the staff in this case...

I have been in this position a couple of times too and have said something both times.

Once I was greeted by hostility by the person riding the bike as he had set it up like that on purpose, I did question what happens at full compression (spoiler: the arch of that fork is making contact with the frame) but I got an earful and just let him get on with it.

The second time, the chap said he wondered why the bike felt nervous.  I sorted it for him then and there on the trail. I saw him later and he said thank you again and he enjoyed the post-fettle part of the ride much more than ther pre-fettle.

In all honestly, if you see this you have to say something don't you?

I pointed this out to a kid (perhaps 12 yo) at the BMX track. He'd been riding the jumps pretty well and I casually said it needed sorting, assuming he'd fix it another time. Instead, he stopped riding immediately and went home. 5 mins later his dad stomped across looking pretty peeved but was actually really grateful. He'd had to build the bike in lockdown since there was no stock in local shops, and basically told me he didn't really know what he was doing.

3 years ago I walked intro Asda in Kirkintilloch to see a line of bikes built up, all forks on back to front. I actually went and spoke to customer service manager - she asked over the 'bike mechanic' and both of them basically started arguing that the 'bike mechanic' had been on a training course and I was in the wrong.

I showed a few photos on my phone, of the exact bike they were selling.....

All of a sudden red faces and a manager thanking me while sending 'bike mechanic' to go swap them asap.

Put me out of my misery!

What's wrong with the eBay one above? I'm looking and looking but can't see the issue.😐

I messaged the guy to tell him. He said thanks and that he’d fix it. Sounds like he either has or has taken the photos showing the forks down.

There were 12 photos before. Next time we need to take a screen shot for evidence. Thanks for letting him know.

At first I just thought the geometry was really old school until I realised the forks were on backward! 🤣

Toe lap looks a problem. I don't think whyte designed it this way round.
