Heading off to Aviemore for 3 days boarding in the morning, I know the area reasonably well at low level but canny make up mind to put the fatty in the car as well.
Are there many routes above the snow line for an hour or two "easy" biking

Anecdotally (Phone call home to my mum) cairngorm has had the most snow for many years, some of the gully's are completely filled in. But down at the aviemore level little to no snow.

The snow line is around the top car park level so the only snowy routes would be into the corries. I wouldn't call them easy and they'd be made even more difficult by the variable snow conditions. We've had no pisted XC trails this year.

Having said that, the fatbike is excellent round the Rothiemurchus and Inshriach forest trails and would offer agood day out should the slopes be closed due to winds (as has been a regular occurrence this winter).

The snow level is pretty much at the car park. I'm not sure there's much above that which would give you an hour or two of easy biking.

With the possible exeption of the northern corries heading up from there takes you into some fairly serious terrain.

edit - largely beaten to it!

Thanks chaps, that's mostly what I thought with the snow only being up on the hill.
I know the funicular is having probs at the moment as well so bike is already in the car shame not too.

Was most definitely worth bringing it. managed a few runs down from mid station, nice packed snow with a couple inches fresh. Even though it was a push up I Enjoyed it even more than the fresh I collected on the board 😀

Here are some pics from the weekend to give you a flavour of the lower stuff 😉

The trails around Loch Gamhna were excellent on the fatbike, as was the route down into Glen Feshie, esp beyond the Bothy.

Cracking weather on Sunday wasn't it 8)
