Worth it to donor a bike or start from scratch in 2022?

Some background first...

I wanted a 'gravel bike' so I somewhat reluctantly bought a brand new 2021 Nukeproof Digger comp, as it was the closest thing to what I wanted and available at the time. I think they're nice bikes but it just hasn't completely clicked with me, I haven't even touched the thing as it's been too wet to test ride it.

Whilst I've been marinading on whether to keep the Digger or return it, a frameset that I've been eyeing for ages has become available. A nice Steel number more in line with the stuff I like.

Now the dilemma....

I'm going to buy this frameset, but do I keep the Digger and donor the parts onto the frame or just return the Digger and start from scratch. The parts are ok but a lot of it I wouldn't personally spec on a build, other than the GRX groupset that's on it. But I'm thinking if I can sell the frame and wheels off it it might end up saving me some money on the build?

So, is it worth donoring bikes these days?
Also is there likely a market for a 2021 Digger Comp frameset?

Nice one, and apologies for the slightly rambly post.

The second hand bike market is weird at the moment. Some things are selling quickly for good prices, others are collecting dust without a sniff. Generally I feel it’s slowed to stagnant.

I’ve recently bought a Genesis CDF gravel bike. The spec isn’t quite what I’d have chosen, given a full choice, but it’s pretty close. And with the shortage of certain parts and the price of those available, it was a no-brainer to go for a full build.

As for your question, OP, it all depends on whether your choice of parts is available, whether the parts will swap straight across, and how confident you are that the remains of the Digger will sell for what you’re prepared to let it go for. Which in fairness is probably not a lot.

Sorry.

All makes sense, after some thought and a session on excel I am going to simply return the bike and build up the frame from scratch, hopefully being able to source some parts second hand to lighten the load on the wallet.
