I'm having my Pikes serviced at TFTuned this week and was thinking about getting them Push'ed at the same time.
Overall I'm really happy with the forks. But I've noticed that after a particular section of trail (jumps followed by a rock garden) that my fork becomes overly compliant (ie can very easily use about 120 mm of travel without having to push down very hard). After about 5 minutes, it seems to return to normal. I tend not to notice this on other trails, where the fork seems fine.
One slight concern is when my frame was being replaced, the bike shop stored the forks upside down for about 4 weeks and you could see they had leaked oil (I have no idea how much).
Could this lack of oil give the above symptoms? Or maybe it is worth getting them Push'ed?
Any ideas? Thanks.
I understand TF recommend storing bikes upside down to keep the seals in contact with the oil (or vice versa) and mention that some can leak out as the uturn is sealed brilliantly.
doubt its a problem

Mine are PUSHED.
In answer: no. A service will do wonders though.
Getting them pushed improves the damping of the fork on repeated hits at speed. If you haven't noticed the way pikes or any motion controlled RS forks get out of shape in these conditions then don't bother getting them pushed. On the other hand if you have noticed this then get them pushed. You might loose a wee bit of small bump sensitivity if getting them pushed as well. If you pushing the forks hard, get them pushed, if not then don't.

That's good advice, though if you've got the cash spare you might still want to give it a go.
I took a punt on getting my shock Pushed when I was reasonably happy with it, and was amazed at how much better it was afterwards.
Sometimes you don't know what you're missing until you try it.
Thanks for the replies.
Yeah I do invert my bike for a wee bit every now and then, but not for long enough for any oil to start leaking through the o-rings.
I had my rear-shock pushed (Fox Float R) and I did notice a massive improvement. I haven't got a huge amount of surlpus cash now, but if getting them Push'ed was the answer then I'd do it.
But it sounds like a service might help. I think I'll put a note in the box explaining this and ask them to see if I was particularly low on oil in the MOCO unit.
Fork PUSH is not anywhere near as noticeable as a Shock PUSH.
Sounds like your oil might be foaming, which suggests its old. A service will probably make a difference.
As above - I found mine to be lacking at high speed with repeated hits. Had them PUSHed and they're like completely different forks - slightly harsher at slow speeds, but they feel firmer throughout the stroke and the rebound works well at any speed.
what is Push'ed?

Agreed, at speed it's a much better fork after having the Push treatment.
I think people who don't notice a difference just don't ride fast enough 😯 😉

Push Industries is a US company which makes various upgraded parts for various shocks/forks to improve the performance or tune it more closely to an individuals needs.
TF Tuned can fit Push bits in the UK.

cool ta
Any other opinions from those people who had to focus at work today? 😉

I've always noticed how lacking my (2 sets of) Pikes are through fast repeated holes/hits/compression and know having them Pushed would sort it out but just think what TF charge is far far too expensive for such a simple service (anyone could do in an hour themselves) and to fit the Push damper parts so just put up with it. now if you could buy the parts separately that would be another matter altogether.
Ps. running your rebound slightly faster helps them to cope a little better in their standard form.
My view is yes especially if you like rocky stuff. Makes the high speed stuff so much more stable.
BTW I have had 3 sets done.
GW - TFTuned actually offered to sell me the parts (not sure how much) but I'm not confident to start faffing too much, I'll do a lower leg service but that's my lot.
Sounds like it might be worth getting them Push'ed. Any of the suspension experts (Loco/ Peter Poddy) have a bright ideas if it could be a simple lack of oil or something else that will be simply fixed in the service? (this is my desperate plea to convince me to save money!)
if you can do a lower leg service, do it and change the oil while you're at it - then you'll know the levels are correct again. if they have been leaking they're cearly not.
a lower leg service won't do anything for the damping though - that is sealed in the moco cartridge. I was dead scared about opening mine up but had a go and its dead easy. just unscrew the cartridge, tip oil out and syringe more in.

Really? I asked and they said no to selling Push parts. Are you sure? Or do you just mean standard RS bits?
I'd also agree that Pushing Pikes makes a big difference riding at speed over repeated hits when standard Pike rebound just can't cope. The Potato Ally end of the Roman Road in the Peak for example. Everything just far more controlled at speed. If you're fine with the forks at high speed as they are though, I wouldn't bother.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they offered me the the Push parts, he then started chatting about how to take out the old gubbins. But to be honest I wasn't planning on doing it, so I wasn't really taking it in.
Okay, I'll give them a bell. The Push part just replaces the standard rebound damper piston assembly, I think. Easy enough to remove. Thanks.
I don't know whether TFT will sell the PUSH components separately, but according to this http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=590678 you may be able to get an upgraded rebound assembly from Rockshox that, AFAIK, should do pretty much what the PUSH upgrade does.
