how do you know if the bushings are worn on the rp23? i cant feel any side/side play or any movement when lifting it up...
but when i took the rp23 out of the frame, the bushings were sort of sliding side to side? is this normal? or are the suppose to be firm and stuck in place?
sorry for the numpty question, never had to change them before, so not sure what im looking for!
anybody
You mean the bush in the mounting eye?
You will know when theyre worn, its not side to side but along the shock length, you can see it with the bike on the ground and just lift the saddle a bit.
hmmm i really dont know the first thing about bushings, or mounting eyes??
the two silver bits on the outside of the rp23 shock slide side to side slightly, which im guessing could be moving in shock holes on the frame, if that makes sense? are the bushings inside then?
confused! 🙁
ps ive basically got a clicking noise on the bike, ive tried absolutly everything i can think of to cure it, but i must say it seems to be suspensions clicking on climbing when the suspension is compressing?
ive changed the bearings, but was told it could be possibly the bushings have gone too, ive had it a year near enough and its been used a fair bit
Sit the bike on the ground, put 1 hand on the shock mount (skinny end of shock)and lift the saddle you will feel it if its gone, if its bad it might even clonk a little.
They are supposed to move side to side a bit.
Creaks and clicks can be a nightmare to find, but I doubt its your shock bush as even if its borked your weight on it will stop it moving, you might hear it when the wheel gets unloaded over bumps or into a corner or something.
yep - tried that last night tinsy, didnt seem to have any movement (the only movement ive ever had is when the bearings had gone, and ive just replaced them so its got no movement at the mo)....
just kinda thought the movement side to side might mean its worn, but if your saying its designed to then i guess thats normal
hmmmmmm, was kinda hoping this may be the cause! 🙁
