About 20 years late. Kestrel possibly one of the first back in '88?

I assume they meant to say the world's first carbon hardcore hardtail. Not sure if that's true either, but what they've put up there certainly isn't. 😀

I'd have thought giant or trek got there first.

I suppose it could be the worlds first carbon hardtail with SLX for only 1249.

+1 mrblobby I assumed the word "with" was missing from between hardtail and SLX.

Or they meant to write "ugliest" instead of "first"?...

It is the first SLX make from carbon that is a hardtail.

If you ignore the fact SLX is in a different font and a different colour and include it in the sentence then it makes sense.

Trek OCLV was the first good one, wasn't it?

Trying to think, you had bonded bikes like the Specialized epic ultimate and various treks. Not technically hardtails because they predate the rs1 and marzocchi star fork ( or whatever the noodly thing was called) you had trimble, kestrel making monocoques. Again predating hardtails so the statement is crap.

I had a Gary Fisher Procaliber 95 for a while, got it unused for less than half price in '97. I wasn't aware there was a definition of a hard tail other than not having rear suspension. Full carbon frame except for the dropouts, traditional diamond shape, but made in one piece. Lovely looking, feather light and really responsive, but some of the expensive looking kit on it left a lot to be desired, especially the twist grip shifters, which seized up early on. AFAIK its now a commuter in Vienna.

I'm amused to see that the Carbon Titus frame is £100 cheaper than the aluminium. Shouldn't that be the other way around? Or is plastic cheaper than alu?
