Just got back to the house and got an email saying tickets are now on sale. High demand so ive been stuck in a queue.

No idea if this is just because the service cant cope with more than a few at a time or if there really is huge demand but if you want tickets might be better getting on sharpish.

I queued for about 20 mins after clicking on the email almost immediately. Grabbed BMX park and track tickets, and on the day the Men’s road race finishes in the city centre. Absolutely buzzing.

We did the mtb at Les Gets last summer so fancied some variation and I love watching track (I saw Jason Kenny win his sprint gold at London and it was amazing).

I love watching track

Despite being a MTBer (don't own a road bike) and not been on a track, I agree. Brilliant to watch and easy to understand. We had tickets for most of the finals sessions in Athens 2004 when Team GB had quite a bit of success. Total luck on our part, we got them as - unbelievably - they were one of the cheapest tickets for any sport.

Is this because no one knows how you are going to be able to watch in on the telly box?

I was thinking about this as we haven't been to Fort Bill since 2016 but if people are already online fighting over tickets while I'm sitting on this park bench, then I guess we're not going.

Factor in the local hoteliers who will be rubbing their mitts in anticipation and I think I'll leave it a year.

Anyone have any accommodation booked yet?

Stupid system, I was on the website at noon exactly button bashing the 'tickets' tab, then saw an email come through with a different link, by which time I was miles back in the queue, 40 minutes and counting 🙄

Just the Downhill finals for us, we have a Glamping pop in Glen Nevis for 4 nights so would settle for the Qualifying instead, not sure my 5 year old or wife will care much either way so long as they get a gondola ride in the sun 😂

Had accommodation booked since they first announced the dates (we go to the WC most years anyway). Just need the tickets,

FYI guy in our club just posted: "10% booking fee and a transaction fee too the robbing bastards" - on top of the prices. So will be £270 + 10% + transaction fee for 2 adults & 2 kids for 2 days DH inc gondola... I might chuck the gondola and make the kids hike up the hill instead, given what queues were like last year. £120 rather than £270...

I think the problem is that the site will be selling tickets for every discipline not just downhill.

Yeah, the demand for Artistic Cycling and Cycle Ball tickets has a lot to answer for.

Ill be going on my own as I dont know anyone who is interested and can get time off work. Shall see what the cost is when i eventually get through but £300 for 2 days seems a lot more expensive than normal?

I got my tickets, 2 adults and 2 kids with 2-Day elite gondola passes came to just under £300 when fees added.

Just home the queues for the Gondola aren't stupid like the World Cup last year.

Yeah. ****s.

I was prepared for a transaction fee so thought I would cunningly book my sisters tickets as well, but with the 10% transaction value fee they get you either way. Nice way to sour the moment slightly but at least I got my tickets after 50 minutes.

Booked our campsite at Fort Bill a while back, there already wasnt much left. Got tickets for Qually and Finals day for the DH. We used to go every year when it first started with the world cup (02, 03, 04...? Which year did Steve win?)

Its the same gang, going back all as grown ups, quite excited!

I also really wanted to make it a proper 10 day trip and go Glentress aswell for the XC which I reckon will be brilliant to watch, however accomodation/camping appears hard to find and it was just too much time away. I'll save my first Glentress trip for one doing some riding, not wathcing it I think.

I'm trying to remember if they were checking tickets when getting on the gondola from the top station (to go down). I don't think they did last year.

FYI Fort William for Friday/Sat (Qual/Finals) works out at £94ea by the time you get to check out.

Still, you dont get sod all for less than a hundred quid these days so not surprised.

Yeah that also put me off the mtb given we didn’t pay anything last summer. However, I don’t mind paying for track tickets given the infrastructure.

Aye it says when youre looking at the tickets theres loads left but when you get through to check theres only lots of wheelchair access ones which is slightly missleading.

You know its the World Championships right?

(I have no idea about recent history, but we were certainly paying for tickets back in 03, 04 etc too, so its hardly new!).

E-mail came in at 12:02. My confirmation for DH & XC tickets arrived at 12:12.

Granted I already knew what we wanted, so it was in, click, register, pay. Must have been lucky.

DH is without goldola for us. Will save that money for a day there with our own bikes. I'm happy to pay as the remote location requires the infrustructure to be brought in for the event.

E-mail arrived with me 12.05. Joined queue immediately Finally got through 12.55ish, had 2-day DH tickets with gondola tickets in basket but was kicked out before I could pay! By the time I got back in the gondola tickets had gone, so we've got Fri/Sat DH tickets without gondola.

The £££ I've saved not being able to get gondola tickets can go towards Haribo bribery for getting the kids to hike up to the top of the course!

Got the link just after 12 and was in the queue for about 90 minutes no gondola tickets left for Saturday but managed to get some for Friday. The gondola queue was terrible last year waited about an hour when every other year it’s been pretty much a walk on.xc sold out for the Saturday but loads of 4 day passes left.

I’ll be fuming if they release more gondola tickets for the Saturday after buying non gondola ones as the gondola tickets where sold out.

Ah so I was way too busy at work today to get tickets.
what’s the difference between a presale and a sale then? Cos this seems just like a sale to me!

edit

Got Friday non gondola tickets for me and the boy. Still plenty of them left

Got tickets for the velodrome.

But Never have I cursed at my phone so much tho. The ‘give your email to get us we’ll email you when your Q spot comes up’. All sounds good. Except the email they send out is headed up Rugby league World Cup. So I ignore the first one. Missed my Q spot. Try again and realise I do need click the rugby email link.

The seating plan is unreadable on phone so I’ve no idea if I’m choosing the decent seats or not. Also what is the top or bottom row of seats when it’s an oval track, am I reading this right? I think I’ve picked seats near front but if I’m wrong I’ve gone for the back row. There’s no info on what ‘concession’ is so I go for 4 adult tickets even tho maybe the kids are concessions. Oh well rather spend and be safe than find I’ve bought wrong tickets. I’m spending £45 per ticket though when concession is £5. Crash and kicked out.

Back again, repeat. All good but no the previous tickets stick in basket. Only option clear whole basket start again. Can’t delete individual seats.

Next time in and repeat. Basket payment time. Ah ok you want me to login now. Nope doesn’t like my email despite it being the one they sent me the pre-sale on. 3 attempts and get logged in, and phew basket still there. Paid and relax.

Got there in end. A colleague brought me some chips for lunch seeing I was having a bad day 😀

Rugby league World Cup

Yes, that threw me for a while. I had to create an account, but that didn’t go smoothly either as there was an error that meant I could neither log in (password incorrect) nor create a new account (account already exits). In the end I had to do a password reset. Not the smoothest of experiences, but all good in the end. I just wish I’d thought to book accommodation earlier…

yeah this. My son is at uni. I bought a concession ticket for him assuming that it would be correct. Nowhere on the website does it mention what constitutes a concession though! Rubbish!

On every page under session details it says: “Concessions are available for those under 16 and those ages 60 and over.”

Was on for 12, no ticket option. 10 past, no ticket option…. Had decided the missus got the wrong day and they weren’t released today. She comes back an hour later saying did I get tickets, by the gondola tickets gone for finals! Frustrating!

We even have fort Glen Nevis camping pod booked too for a few days and no tickets. Hope this is just the presale and there’s another batch of tickets!

Friday DH, XC finals and freestyle BMX on the day the men's road finishes in Glasgow, so going to get at least 4 events in! Not cheap but we're unlikely to see an all discipline worlds in Scotland again in our lifetime and it would cost significantly more to globetrot to various other future world championships in order to watch for "free".

Thought ticketing was pretty slick aside from the rugby email.... Got the email announcing pre sale was open, got in queue, got email 40 minutes later saying I was at front of queue, went in and everything I wanted was available still.

Just had a look at the XC ones, £30 for an adult for the Elite finals, seems a bit steep especially as U16 or 60+ are £5

The big question is... where does all the money go ? Considering Les Gets was free for every event.... Is the money going to the riders ? or ?

Hopefully a fair bit goes to the local venue. I have no issues paying to watch but not £30 that is excessive. No doubt parking charges on top of that and I see mention of booking fee etc earlier in this thread

Wondering what benefit there was for us mugs who queued an hour for the presale tickets! 🙄 I guess peace of mind for accomodation bookings etc.

Indeed. I got in a flap that day as I was at work and couldn’t get logged on until the evening when it was all gone. I could’ve waited till today and got gondola tickets for both days. Now we are walking up the hill on Friday and having a trip on the cable car on Saturday which seems like a good way to do it. Never been to fort bill before. Got camping pods booked at glen Nevis campsite. Need to work out the best way to get between the two- bikes? Or is that a liability to have to look after all day- presumably can’t take them in the cable car during the event??

For the world cups - and I'd assume something similar for this - bikes work well and there's a big bike park on the way in. There are scaffold-pole bike racks that you can lock the bikes to well enough (well, I take the old bike just in case but it's been fine in the past).

Alternatively, there are free P&R busses and it's about a 10min walk from the campsite to pick up the bus as it leaves Fort William.

Wet resigned ourselves to buying non-gondola tickets in the pre-sale cos that's all that was left, but if we'd waited we'd have got gondola tickets in the general sale no probem. The hike up the hill will be character-building for the kids...

We'll be getting the shuttle bus in from Spean Bridge this year. Have previously camped at Glen Nevis site and ridden in - the ride back was brilliant as you could be in a throng of riders all cruising back downhill to Fort William. Nice quiet route too avoiding the main roads, all signed from memory.

Its a few years since I've been but either take your bikes, theres a big bike park with those scaffold pole stands - or theres shuttle buses running constantly from Fort William up to the Nevis Range car park where the ticket gates will be. There will be a big crowd of people walking from Glen Nevis and back every morning and evening (blue line) and the buses run where the red line is.

It is a long time since I've been but im relatively confident they will still be getting this bit right. We don't plan on using the car at all once we have arrived.

I did the same. Bought the best tickets available after signing up for the pre sale months in advance. I have hotel and camping booking’s so need to be certain I had some tickets. I couldn’t take a chance on not getting anything so I got gondola for Friday and non gondola for Saturday. Today there’s 2 day packages with gondola available. What’s the point of signing up for tickets months in advance and waiting in a long queue on presale day to not get the tickets you want

The 2 day packages with Gondola access were available on the presale too, they just sold them all.

The presale was just the top XX% of each of the ticket types available.

Look out for us! There for 4 days with wife and 5yr old. Hadn't thought about pedalling from Glen Nevis but was definitely fun when we did it 10 years ago at the first WC.

Exactly the same here: accomodation was booked months ago and couldn't risk not getting something. On the plus side I'll avoid any gondola queues and the money saved will buy a shitload of Haribo for bribing the kids on the hike to the top 😂

Can anyone remember if tickets are checked at the top station before getting a gondola back to the bottom? Asking for a friend...
