I am getting a carbon framed bike, hopefully with a dropper post. Can you use a dropper post to hold your bike in a workstand?
Not recommended to clamp on the extension - Sram videos all show the post being extended from the frame and workstand clamping on the non-droppy section.
Can't you just clamp the frame? - I do

+1 - just don't clamp it too tight and it'll be fine. All you're really trying to do is stop the bike wiggling around while you are working on it.
Alternatively, get a cheap/broken/scratched seatpost to use whilst in the stand.
(Park Tools make a weird adjustable seatpost just for this purpose. It's not very good)

Hi GW - * waves *
Brand-X seatpost off CRC £11ish or s/hand off e-bay.
I have a spare seatpost for when I want to put the bike in a workstand.
I have an old seatpost I use for this
I just pull the seatpost out enough to give room for the clamp as gravity-slave says.
Works ok, although I don't clamp too hard.
Yep, raise post up in frame and clamp the "non-droppy" bit.
