Advice wanted for a new stand..
Currently have a Park Tools PCS-9 which does the job rather well.
Problem is I’m shortly moving into a new place which just doesn’t have the space for a stand to be, ahem, standing around all day doing nothing.
Anyone recommend a decent workshop stand that is foldable in some way so it takes a much smaller footprint when stored?

Mounted ours to the garage wall on an old TV wall bracket. It folds flush to the wall when not in use.

Its an internal security door. We got it after a break in and two bikes were stolen on the insurance and police recommendation. We got it from a place in Sheffield that specialise in office security

Got one of these 2 weeks back. Very handy for basic tasks etc and for throwing in the car for when washing the bike after a spin. Not a replacement for a proper stand though better than nothing if you're really tight for space.

Tracey - do you get any flex from that TV bracket with it being cantilevered out so far? Looks like a really neat solution.
No flex at all. Its a big one for a big old TV. We can hang and work on a Turbo Levo with no problems.

Had a thought that I could put one of these grilles behind the up and over door as a 2nd line of defence.
Had a scout round t'internet, took a look at the garage today and looks like I could fix it to internal brick on one side, but would have to make up some sort of secure frame/post to mount on. Also would need a version with a lift up bottom track to allow access for the car and motorbikes.
h'mmm. More thought required.
Other option could be a workbench mounted one, I've not looked for a while but not seen an affordable one before.
I have an x-tools pro stand which folds away quite compact / small when not in use.
These look similar to the Aldi/Lidl stands and seem to have a decent write up. Pretty sure I've had them recommended on here before.

Why? Just have an angled ramp either side, it doesn't need to be big, just big enough to stop the track getting damaged.
You can spec it up with a lift out section for access, ours at work is like it to allow it when it is open.

I highly recommend it. Keep the metal bits greased or GT85-ed regularly and it will last you a long time. Mine is going strong for 10 years and is as good as new. I should easily be able to pass it on to the next generation of cack handed bike mechanics I will no doubt sire 🙂
Tracey, that TV bracket looks like a good idea but does it swing back and forth in use?
No its very stable. I think its designed so the TV would only move under force.

I have a similar bracket, mine uses washers as "bearings" so as you increase the torque on the through bolt you increase the amount of force needed to overcome the resistance.
TBH any swing out bracket should do the job strength-wise, the cheaper ones may actually be better as they will be built like mine so more prone to locking up.

If used their motorcyle products for years, and was suprised to see they did this mini version for mountainbikes. It is small and light and can take it in the car to the trail to fit and remove wheels etc. Normally £39 off their website, but I paid £29 for mine on their stand at the Motorcycle live show at the NEC

Still probably worth £70 to be honest.
Legs fold up & head collapses downwards. It ends up pretty compact & it's all held together with QR clamps, so probably only takes 20 seconds or so to get ready.
Got one of those Abbas in the camper, mainly to use with the ebikes so you can work on the drive train.
you could get them for £14.99 on ebay but now up to £18.99 its good for the price but does put you down on your knees or bum for most of the stuff that needs working on
