I've had mine on my bike now for probably about 10 rides and it feels rough as a gentlemen's unshaven chin. I haven't pointed the hose pipe at it either. Anyone else's suffered the same fate? I presume it's just new bearings that will do the trick bit still for 70 quid! Ffs!

really?

Take the top cap off and take a look, there could be crap in the bearings etc. give it a wipe clean and a grease before you grind it to pieces. If it's clean and smooth like that have you over tightened it?
