So we've just finished construction of our bike racks on the wall and now we're looking to cover it in something to help with possible tyre marks and because the wood isn't really gonna work with possible wet bikes.
I know you'll all love the carpet, our garage was a granny flat at some point, floor tiles are on the list this year!
Our thoughts are maybe some lino and stapling it up but I'm wondering if the hive mid can think of anything better? I dont think paint alone will be wipeable enough.
Laminate flooring?
Cork floor tiles look cool on a wall.
Rubber flooring?
Formica contact adhesived on?
To be honest, a little water from a tyre isn't going to do too much to anything.
As long as you're not jet washing against it.
Paint would be fine I'd have thought. Exterior.
P.s the carpet is rad 😊👍
Stain it a colour, not some icky fake oak, I mean a colour , a cheapo way of doing it is with a thinned down emulsion, or cuprinol woodshades. Then add varnish, it'll last for blummin ages,
When my friend moved into a new bike shop he gave me a load of old cycling magazines he had collected over the years and we cut out some great pictures and plastered them over the walls using pva (I think) then covered them with a varnish (I think, if was a long time ago)
Pictures are still on the wall, must have had 100s of bikes stored on them and the pictures still look as good as the day we did it and they've never been cleaned!
The shower enclosure type boards?
Or old number plates on the contact patches
cut out some great pictures and plastered them over the walls using pva
You mean there might finally a use for the close to 100 issues of Singletrack I've got in the garage and failed many times to give away...?!
A piece/pieces of Formica/laminate countertop (just the wear later)
Hundreds of styles.
Did a full wall of orange in a buddy's place, floor to ceiling as a bike wall. Looked killer and bombproof.
You could.even get some!retro patterns to complement that carpet 😉
Or a strip of galvanized sheet metal glied or screwed.
Cheap foam floor tiles from Halfords or B&Q etc. The type that lock together. Glued on or use carpet tape.
Hygienic wall cladding sheets. I had some left over from a job that I used but it's worth seeing if you have a local supplier as they may have some rejected sheets if scratched or damaged at the ends
