Hi.
Have an older Reba, 2013ish, dual air and it feels terrible out riding.
Lowers have been cleaned and lubed with new wiper seals, stanctions have no corrosion marks, damper oil is changed yearly and air chamber is slick honeyed.
I know the rough theory of setting them up; all air out, inflate positive chamber, and then negative chamber to same amount, more if you want more small bump sensitivity, less if you dont.
They feel okay to bounce around on but once out riding they just feel horrid, really wooden and I'm pretty sure they're packing down, so tried less rebound/thinner damper oil but didnt really help, also tried more pressure but i would just ping off everything.
Is it just because they're getting on now? Am I setting them up poorly?
As a comparison I also ride a 2016 reba solo air that feels good albeit its on a different bike with much slacker head angle, could that also be contributing?
Many thanks for any input 🙂

Hmmm... Sounds like you might have Dodgy seals. That's the feeling you'd get with no negative air pressure.
Do you loose pressure in the negative after a ride?
Have you changed the seals, as well as the oil and grease service? If not, I'd change the seals in air piston.

I wouldn't have thought it would feel like it's packing down in that case. IME it feels like a coil fork running a tonne of preload. The fork sits up more than usual and wants to ping rapidly back to full extension.
What damper does it have? The old style motion control damper did have a pretty wooden feel. Not sure if you can still get the push upgrade for them, but that's one thing it used to help with.
It may be the seals but i still have negative pressure, as i tried with with low neg pressure and it tops out!
Will try and track down a service kit for it.
Not sure on what damp it has sadly!
