Any recommendations for womens saddles? A friend has just started riding and is getting a really sore bum. She hasn’t got padded shorts yet so that will help but I think if she upgrades the saddle she will enjoy it more.

Mrs_oab just found out that Bontrager Sport Women's is just the right shape and width as her. She's really impressed.
Local shop helped with the fitting - tilt, height, and fore and aft can have a huge impact.

A lot of people rate the specialized saddles and they have a choice of widths. As I’m sure you know the more she rides the better it’ll get, it’s one of those things that you will overcome if you ride more.

Selle Italia Diva Lady is the go to saddle for the girls in our riding group and also a couple of the guys including me, most comfy saddle I've ever ridden on. Also on offer on Wiggle.

What saddle is on the bike.

A good pair of womens padded liners I would say is a must.

We have used Specialized saddles for years. Most recently the Phenoms. The last bike I got in March came with Specialized Power Pro Mimic. It has a snub nose which looks a bit weird but it's the most comfortable I have ever used. So much so I bought another one for my other bike from a guy on here

The above all are regular recommendations. Personally the mimics are awful for me, though lots of woman love them. I’m a selle Italia lady. Woman seem to have a lot more issues than blokes when it comes to saddles so she might be best to try a few either borrowing from people/shop or picking up stuff on eBay.

And really decent shorts and chamois cream. Woman specific chamois cream are best.

I've got Charge Ladles on both my bikes.

@stwhannah did an article on this at some point that's worth a read.

I agree with that. Again, mrs_oab has just moved to Bontrager and Pearl Izumi and is impressed by how much better they are than her old Endura and Polaris shorts - at the very least, less sweaty and much nicer pads.

Tracey has given great advice.
I prefer Specialized saddles, getting measured on the 'arseometer' first.

For years I thought the Terry Butterfly saddle was the one for me.
Since I switched out for the Ergon SR womens I can even do rides without padded shorts in comfort.
Agree though that saddles and shorts are a very personal thing!
