Hi all,

Trying to find a pair of shoes for the good lady, she is using some DMR Vault pedals but lacks grip from regular trainers. She doesn't want to go for the spd option so, I am looking around for decent but not uber expensive shoes for flat pedals. Any advice because I am drawing a blank. I guess I was thinking around 50 quid.

Some sort of skate shoe would be my suggestion. If you can find a Vans waffle soled shoe going cheap somewhere, that would be a good idea. From memory, though, there are places doing FiveTen Freeriders cheap and they're excellent.

The GF had some DC skate shoes which ere ok (used with Nukeproof Electrons). She finds her 5:10 Freerider VXi (ones with the smooth patch underfoot) much better though - stiffer and stickier.

The wife used to have some women's 5:10 karve I think they were. Anyway, found those uncomfortable and now uses a unisex teva links on her vaults. There might still be some around for less than £50 in funny sizes.

My missus used Teva Links before going over to spds. I've heard there are a few bargains around if you can find any

+1 for Teva Link or 5.10 Elements. T'other half has Elements and is a big fan, think I got them for ~£55 on sale at biketart (rrp much higher) and several places have Links for less than £50 (JE James, Sportpursuit and others).

We are all using 5 10s small sizes can be picked up at a reasonable price. Some of the German online stores have some bargains on if you keep looking

Again Teva LInks ? My g/f found some in her size a few weeks back and they work well for her on Superstar nano pedals.

Thanks for the responses. Looking for a size euro38, no links available from anywhere I have looked and finding shoes in that size seems to be a mega pain.

Oooh glad it's not just me who have found the 510 Carves uncomfortable.
I do however, have a fabulous pair of (male) Sam Hill 510s. Great shoes. Tough and comfy.
For winter use, seal skins.

Spesh 2FO? They don't look as 'special' as some flat pedal shoes I could mention.....
I'm getting some!
