have broken the standard push button actuator on my reverb, so using it as an opportunity to change to a paddle type lever as never really liked the standard button -
looking at rockshox's own 1x reverb lever or the wolftooth sustain conversion kit. any real world experiences of either / both? any pro's / cons of of going to a cable actuator on a hydraulic post? any others I should be looking at?
thanks
Wofl tooth for the win?
I just did his last week, going from a Reverb 1x to the sustain after I broke the Reverb. Feels just as good.
I've got the B1 post and lose about 30-40mm off the bottom of it with the cable actuator thingy compared to the hydraulic one. Doddle to fit.
No more bleeding the lever either.
I tried the 1x reverb lever, then promptly ordered 4 for all of mine. It’s MILES nicer to use than the button, and in a year, I’ve had no problems with any. Wouldn’t have a reverb without it now.
1x here and just feels right, like thats how a reverb should have been all along. Particularly if you use a sram shifter as it all matches up nicely.
I have the 1x lever and it's mint. Surely the cable would need maintaining whereas with Reverbs I've never found they need bleeding or messing with when done properly on installation. I just don't see why you'd move away from full hydraulic (other than if due to space restriction in the seat tube as above)
I started a thread about the Bike Yoke vs Wolf Tooth remotes, but now I'm contemplating going for the 1x Reverb remote. It looks like I'll need to but a bleed kit as well as the remote (which makes it over £100 just for a lever).
The one thing I'm worried about is that my post is in the down position and the hose popped out of my remote. Can I still install one of the cable remote with the post down?
looks like the easiest route will be the most expensive (Reverb 1x), unless the cable remotes can be installed with the post down?
don’t see why not. All the mechanical adaptors do is push the piston manually that the reverb remote pushes hydraulically. From memory you do have to release any air pressure in the post to install though. Not sure if that would cause an issue. Probably worth asking sacki or tf-tuned
I’ve got both and they’re both mint compared to that cr**py little button thing.
Not much to choose between them but Wolf Tooth sounds more manly...

Not sure what what you mean by this, but the wolf tooth remote and I think the bike yoke remote (although not deff on that) only work on stealth reverbs, so doesn’t matter what position the post is at
Cheers jam bo, I'll ask the question before I commit to either.
What I mean is, when the remote has come free, the post was in the down position (with no way of returning it).
I just need to know if the post needs to be fully extended before the bottom is opened to fit the cable bits (I know I have to let all the air out after watching an installation vid).
All the remote does is open a valve to allow oil to flow and the post to move. When you’ve taken the reverb remote off I think you can activate it manually.

Ah, got you now. From memory if installing the cable remotes you have to take the circlip off the bottom of the post to the slide the outer sleeve up the stanction to fit the new actuator, so could be difficult if the post is stuck down possibly. No idea on the 1x reverb, but I’d guess it just a case of swap out via the connectimajig thingy and give it a good bleed, might be well off the mark though
Yep, that's what I'm afraid of, there not being enough to slide it out to fit the bits.
I'll have a think on Friday before I order something 🙂
