We’re off to Center Parcs next week - is it right that the trails are 8 miles away near Woburn Sands?  Any other location details or general advice would be great, am taking my 9yo so it won’t be too extreme...

thanks

You want to head for sandy lane from Woburn sands, lonslade trail is reasonably well signed, not too gnar, there will be mud!

Sandy Lane being the road name? Is there a car park?

There's a free car park, the end of the way marked trail takes you a km away from the car park

or here for backwoods cheeky (which is a muddy slop fest at the moment and best avoided to let the trails dry out  a bit!)

So here we are at Center Parcs.  Jnr is up for turning this into an “Epic”, therefore wants to ride the 8 miles to Sandy Lane.

Whats the best route condering he’s 9 (he is very fit)?   The A507 looks as though it’ll be busy with traffic, and google maps suggests another route to Ridgemont via Steppingly. Thoughts on safe for the two of us?

Thanks

I wouldn't ride the A507.  I have used the Steppingley road to get from MK to Ampthill and it's not too bad.  It goes through Woburn deer park which is a 30mph limit.  That was my favourite part of that commute.

EDIT - sorry, not if you go to Ridgemont it doesn't.

It’s taking me Steppingly, Cobblers Lane, Eversholt road to Ridgemont Lower School, then left on the Bedford Rd to West Hill then Woburn Sands.  Any good?

Yeah thats a fine route just be sure to avoid at rush hour - I hate the road and avoid whenever I can.  And to be very clear, if your lad is happy with a bit of tech then the Longslade is fine, however, there are sections on it, particular with the weather we've had, and for the locals I'm talking bits like the roll-in on Empire, which are pretty hairy unless you are accomplished - though there is a chicken run on it.  I'm sure you'll be fine.

Go off road from Centre Parcs on the by-way up to Cobblers Lane and miss out Steppingley, then either Ridgemont or Deerpark. Starting from South West corner of Centreparcs outside the fence

At Husborne Crawley, i wouldn't take School Lane i'd go Horsepool Lane, then Gypsy Lane and Woodside, much quieter.
