Is this common? I love my MM but as the conditions worsen and I drop the tyre pressure to increase grip the front has developed one hell of a wobble. Can anything be done about it?
So what size MM, rim and psi. I'm running a 2.35 on a 30mm rim at 17psi and no problems. Is it centered on the rim OK.
2.6, 30mm, I run 22PSI in the summer and it starts to go wobbly at about 20. It is centered on the rim.
Not seen this, and run MMs on all most of the year, is it soft/ultra soft/etc, super gravity/addixspeed?
Is it possible you have a malformed tyre, that would show up with lower pressures.
Apex, Snake skin, TLE, Addix soft.
Was interested, as sounds like one of the sidewalls isn't doing as well as the other, i've changed over to super gravity, bit of a weight penalty, but they do seem to keep their shape well.
Have you tried this?

Official line on what pressure to run.
Every schwalbe tyre I’ve owned has had a wobble in it! Magic Mary in 27 & 29 have both had it. For balance I’ve got a set of DHF in tan and they have a wobble as well.
29 x 2.35 snakeskin soft here, 20PSI in the summer and lower in the winter with no issues. 2.35 vs 2.6 might be why though

None of that is normal. Have you checked you don't have a slight out of true wheel?
You can get tyres that are disformed out of the mould. You can also cause it yourself by either blowing the tyre of the rim, or a hard landing.
But, it's not normal. And it's uncommon.
I had a wobble in a MM. But soon discovered it wasnt seated on the rim properly even though it wasn't losing air despite a few rides on it. I re seated it with an airshot and after a nice "ping" the problem went away.

I build my own wheels so I know it’s not them. Also different tyres on the same wheels are fine. I’ve had no issues with a few dhrIIs or an assegai.
I’ve noticed it on other peoples bikes as well. There’s are plenty of forum posts about the web about it. Doesn’t bother me just thought I’d give my experience.

Er, no..
Its pretty common actually. Certainly with a few maxxis tyres in recent years. Loads of folk complaining on forums about it.
I run magic mary's and havent found the issue on them yet. But I wouldnt be surprised to find it.
Schwalbe used to have a bit of a problem with deformed tyres, particularly Racing Ralphs IIRC. Quite a few years ago but I returned a pair of wobbly Ralphs and a pair of Nics. Had a bit of an argument with the shop about it. They were like "that's not possible, they're all checked by lazer at the factory" me "oh right, look at this".
If it's new, return it. If it was fine before but had some use it's probably damaged from an awkward landing or squirming around at low pressure.
I had this on a Maxxis DHF, but not from new - it happened half way through an uplift day at BPW. No dinged rim, I just looked down one time and there it was. Anyone know what causes it - I can't detect anything odd in the structure of the tyre at that point.
