My rear Hope hub has a bit of play, in the same way a wheel wobbles with loose cups/cones. It's a Hope Sport I think, stock on a Whyte 46. It's done good mileage and has been serviced but yet to put new bearings in. Before I do so, is there anything else that could cause a bit of play?

Broken axle?

It will be the bearings I bet

At least I will be able to see a broken axle pretty clearly. I hope it isn't - off to Spain next week 😮

Hope Sports I think, were discontinued by the time the Whyte 46 came about. Its probably a Hope XC, unless of course, the wheel was sourced elsewhere.

The wheel is the stock wheel on a 2006 Whyte 46

bet the axle is broke, happened to mine, breaks just in from the freehub body - so doesn't look from the outside like its gone. doubt its your bearings as it would be very rough to spin if there far enough gone to wobble

Better check pretty bloomin' quickly then. Enough time still to order a new axle. Thanks
