Hi all, I have just fitted two Brand new Scwalbe Magic Mary tyres to my Enduro as it is getting fairly muddy here, both tyres seal and go up fine tubeless on first attempts using only a track pump but once fitted to the bike they both seem to have about a 5-7mm wobble! the two lines/circles on the tyre seem to be true all the way round but when I rotate the wheel the wobble is very obvious, is this normal and do I need to forget about it, or am I doing something wrong? I must admit I am new to tubeless and fitted them as I always have with my hands and no levers, then pump up to 50 psi and listen to them ping onto the shoulder of the rim, both of my wheels are true to within 1mm.

Any suggestions ?

Sounds like they're goosed. Contact the shop/website you bought them from, that's a warranty.

I've had the same thing but with rons and ralphs.. And running tubes.. They seem to settle after a while.

I've not had any problems and the wobble wasn't enough to feel when riding.

I'm not saying it's normal but I've had no issues after hundreds of miles .. Curious to see if others have experiences..

Thanks Nobeerinthefridge

I will take them into my LBS tomorrow and see what they think.
I just presumed that a new £50 tyre would be true?

Next thing you know your knobs will fall off.

Schwalbe have shocking build quality. I wish I could find the pic of the brand new Muddy Mary that had giant blebs in it. It was on a mates facebook, it blew up like a balloon in two spots where the rubber wasn't attached to the carcass.

Thanks mattyfez

Nice to know that they may settle after a while, but still a little surprised that they were wobbly brand new

Yeh I'd be interested in others experience, and I've not had issues with nobs falling off.. I read about it but having gone through a number of schwalbe tyres in the last few years, I'm starting to think it's an urban legend, or possibly people buying the ultra light ones expecting them to be great at grinding through rock gardens..

Shatkattack.. The muddy Mary is not listed on schwalbe website.. I'm guessing it was a fake, or if it's a discontinued model, replaced by the magic Mary?

Maybe your mate bought old stock that's been sat in a warehouse for years?

No sorry I have the Muddy and they've been fine . The Magic is the replacement and I've seen loads of faulty ones just in my local dh scene. Mostly knobs ripping off on the first ride.

A 'bleb' in local dialect is where you have a hole in your tyre and your tube pokes through forming a big black balloon of death just before it goes bang. Well, these had the same effect but in the tyre itself in between the treads. Hilarious to look at but shocking when you look at the price of the bloody things.

Edit: see if this image works I'm on my phone...

I had this exact wobbling problem on a Nobby Nic bought from the great shisters, On One. Clearly caused by a miss-molded tyre - you could actually see where the molding lines didn't line up and the tyre was like riding a buckled wheel. Yet O-O didn't agree. I think they did something weird like offer me 50% off a replacement tyre, or something like that. Remember being a bit miffed about it anyway.

I've had other slight issues with other NN tyres - that 'settle down' eventually. Here I think a slight wobble can be caused by the bead not completely seating correctly - hence it goes away after a bit.

Are the tires on the bead properly. Heavy tires so need a bit of pressure to get them to pop on. If they aren't that could cause the wobble.
