My new Maxxis minion tyres arrived in the post today.
They were obviously folded.
After fitting them there was a fairly significant wobble as the wheel spun.
I played around with them a bit, deflating and inflating them but there is still a wobble, albeit slight now.
I also bought new inners but this made no difference.
Is this a common problem.
Will the tyres 'straighten out' after a bit of use?
Thanks
i think it's more likely the wheel needs a true.
Should have said, the wheels seem spot on.
Common no; but it does happen with Maxxis. Send them back you'll get new ones if the wobble is worth replacing . It won't really come out.
Had an Onza Ibex dual ply and Bontrager SE4, both new, both distorted on straight wheels with a uniform bead line.
They were also on sale!
I just had a new set of Maxxis Forekasters fitted tubeless on a new set of wheels and front seems fine although rear is a slight wobble & seems to be deflating over time at rear.
Any ideas as to what’s going on as will check before riding when bike at time is built up.
Are they definitely fully seated all the way around?
IME this is normal with tyres that have been folded. If it bothers you, inflate them to a high pressure and leave them for a while. Or it'll gradually subside in the course of use. It's not something to be concerned about, anyway.
