are they as good as the folding ? not bothered about weight or black chilli compound.I know they are not made in germany but the tread pattern looks good.just wanting to try something different. Coming from wire high rollers and mostly on grity rock (calderdale)any one tried both
I use the UST Rubber Queens which aren't Black Chilli, and find them really good, the tread pattern seems to hold up in most stuff, and the volume of the tyre adds more cushioning/contact area so they don't slip too much.
Very useful 'mountain' tyre for scottish conditions
thanks mr monk was wondering if the wired compound was different to the folding type
Don't think so, Continental certainly don't mention any difference on their website.
Depends what you want them to do. I just put my Nevegals back on, the RQs are better at some stuff, great in a straight line over rocks and the like, but I found they just kept washing out and understeering in flat bends. That's tread pattern not compound I reckon so the wire ones will probably do the same. But for technical descending, rock work and the like they were ace.
If it's the 2.4 version you're running, ensure you've got plenty of clearance in your frame...they're MASSIVE.
I've used them on a Lapierre Spicy and the grip was good, they're very slow rolling though
cant be much slower than the 2.35 high rollers (front super tacky)was looking at the 2.2 which will fit my prophet
